“Satisfied with my stay”
Reviewed 8 October 2009

I got my reservation for this hotel at a great price off of a name-your-price site. It is in a great location, right on the river and a pleasant walk away from the park. The outside of the hotel and the common areas are outdated and could use some work, but our room was quite nice and appeared to have been renovated within the last year or two. Our room was on the bottom floor near the lobby so I was nervous about noise, but all was quiet during our stay. We didn't eat at the restaurant nor did we order any room service, so can't comment on those. Overall, I am very pleased with our stay.

This hotel has seen better days. Rooms are dated, TVs old, cleaning adequate, but routine maintenance is spotty as the staff tries to keep up aging systems. For the money, there are better choices. The location is good and the staff friendly and the rooms comfortable but the inn is no longer up to the price point.

We decided to take a chance despite recent poor reviews because of a package deal, and we have stayed before and been satisified. This hotel has definitely gone downhill. The bathroom was not clean and we found a used washcloth from a previous guest on the shower rod curtain. The keys worked inconsistently, the air conditioner was annoying loud, and the upholstered chair in the room was dirty. On the plus side, the free wireless was working, it's a good location and was quiet, and the walking path along the river is nice.

This was a nice hotel. Not fancy and no extras, but it was clean, quiet, and located close to Riverfront Park. The other Red Lion up the street sounds like it has more ammenities (based on the website description), but it was also going to cost more. I was able to ask for a mini-fridge/microwave in my room and paid an extra $10/day for it. We hardly spent any time at the hotel except to sleep, so I'm glad I didn't pay the extra money for a more upscale place. This hotel had all the basics at a good price.

The hotel is OK, but nothing more. Bed was very comfortable, but the place felt old -- though not dirty. TV didn't work and the lighting in the room was very dark. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Location is excellent if you want access to Gonzaga Univ. or the Riverfront Park -- it is between the two. We only had breakfast in the restaurant (Ripples) and would not get the very poor buffet again -- ordering from the menu is more expensive but far better than the buffet. Too bad they don't include breakfast with the room. All in all, we'd recommend looking at the Holiday Inn Express, Marriott Courtyard or the Double Tree -- all within a block.

Spent one night with my daughter who had to have a medical appointment in Spokane.
Room was adequate. The air conditioner was annoyingly loud. We were grossed out because my daughter found 2 beetles crawling in her bed: one at night and one the next morning. Shower grout was in need of repair.

Staff was very helpful and pleasant.

Recently my wife and I traveled to Spokane Washington to speak at a convention and do a few stories for the site and upcoming magazine. Since I was scheduled to speak at Spocon on the nearby campus of Gonzaga University, I was happy that we were booked to stay at the Red Lion River Inn.

This was our second trip to the hotel, and it was nice to enjoy a very cool and comfortable room after a day which included a 5 hr drive, an afternoon at Silverwood theme park and very warm temperatures.

Checking in was very smooth and I was grateful that the room we were assigned was located just upstairs from the front desk and did not require us to drive to any of the other wings of the hotel.

The room had a great view of the pool area and was furnished with two Queen beds, a chair, a mini fridge and desk, as well as a television and hair dryer.

The hotel does offer free internet as well as free parking and amenities which include airport transportation, a fitness center, and volleyball, horseshoe, basketball, and tennis area. Many of the rooms offer a view of the river, and the hotel is located near several restaurants and shops downtown.

The next day following a long day at the conference, we decided to try the hotel restaurant and were rewarded with patio dining which overlooked the river. To say that the view of the moon rising over the river was breathtaking would be an understatement.
The service was first rate and we enjoyed an appetizer of French fries and a bevy of dinner salads. Mine was a great mix of craisins, blue cheese crumbles, greens, chicken and apple slices. I accompanied my dinner with a pomegranate iced tea and had a very enjoyable and relaxing dinner after my hectic day.

The hotel offered a Noon checkout on Sunday and this helped us get a good start to our final day in the area as checking out was very quick.

The rooms were very comfy and allowed us to relax and enjoy the numerous amenities and pleasant staff the hotel offered.

While it would have been nice to stay longer, we had to return to the conference before our long drive home. The stay was as enjoyable as you could hope for on a business trip and I highly recommend the Red Lion River Inn when you travels take you to Spokane.
