I am surprised by the negative reviews, because our experience at Hills' was quite good. My husband and I dined at Hills' on Day 8 of a 21-day, 7500 mile road trip, and Hills' was one of our favorite experiences. We had no specific itinerary as we traveled, and each day we decided where we would head next. We found ourselves in Spokane, having left Livingston, MT that morning and after driving just over seven hours, were ready to stop for the night. The desk clerk at the Marriott Courtyard recommended Hills' and gave us directions. Our server, Christine, was delightful, we met Chef Dave and talked with him about his signature dishes and previous experiences, and completely enjoyed our evening there. We shared appetizers of Scotch egg (wonderful, crispy sausage crust), creamy tomato soup (probably best I've ever had, clearly homemade from fresh ingredients) and a delicious grilled chicken salad with their house dressing, and perfectly grilled tilapia. I wish I still had the 'take out' copy of their menu so I could mention other dishes, but our food was really, really good. Don't write this place off because a few people had a "not so good" experience. I'd definitely go back! And by the way, the restaurant sits on a corner, so there are plenty of window seats!
