You can hike in, boat in, or float plane in...that's it! I chose the boat, the slow one at that. If I had to recommend which one I say the fast boat. Though the slow one is a little more comfortable, the time spent in Stehekin is better spent.
From the second you step off the Lady of the Lake you feel welcomed. Phillip, the Lodge Manager I believe is waiting for you with a warm welcome in a colorful shirt. He is the "Mr. Roarke" of "Fantasy Island" there at the Lodge. He answers all your questions and helps you find your way for whatever your visits purpose, sightseeing, lunch, hotel...etc. If staying, Mary welcomes you at the desk and makes every effort to accommodate all your requests (as does everyone at the Lodge whatever their role). The lake-side rooms are roomy, comfortable with a spectacular view. If only staying 1 night splurge, if staying longer it won't matter where because the view is always available with a short walk.
The restaurant was great, for breakfast, Blueberry pancakes...fantastic! Dinner the meatloaf. It is a bestseller for a reason. The staff Keira, Kaelyn, Barbara, Brian, Micah, CR, "SloppyJoe", Cory...all super friendly and amazing. Whether they are serving you or you run into them about Stehekin they all stop, chat, recommend...
The room staff headed by the Fabulous Mary Martin were just as wonderful. Adam, Heather...they made towel origami for us everyday that was a surprise above and beyond. Very courteous and always trying to fulfill expectations, always exceeding.
They made a 4 day stay feel like a home-coming in one of the most wonderful places I have ever visited. Oh yes, Stehekin itself is a wonder. So remote and detached and charming. The hiking was incredible for all levels, even a slug like me.
There are other places to stay and eat but for me The Lodge at Stehekin wins hands down. It is so convenient and comfortable and the hub of everything. A visit to the bakery for coffee and a treat worth it and dinner at the Ranch worth it too, but the Lodge is the best choice for the stay.
I hope to return, for more of the sites but for the stay at the Lodge as well. It is that good!

Just spent a wonderful weekend at the lodge. Good food, nice room and excellent service from all the staff. Excellent weekend adventure with my grandson. Thank all of you at Stehekin Lodge. If you go don't skip the Stehekin Bakery.

Room Tip: No internet access or cell phone service. A great place to get away from it all.

This lodge is a delight. Simple but comfortable accommodations in a pristine North Cascades location. Getting there is daunting when you are making your plans, but as you drive, the scenery from Seattle grows more and more beautiful. Then, as you are getting on the boat or seaplane to cross the lake, you realize that this all is part of the adventure.

Hiking, bike riding, horseback riding, kayaking are all right there, or just sit outside with your paints and a little easel, and make a record of the beauty all around you. The food is probably average, but you can ride your bike down to "the Garden" and pick up some fresh produce grown right there, along with some fabulous herbed goat cheese and flatbread crackers, also made right there, and set up your own mini-feast before you get your burger in the restaurant. Or take a stroll down to the Bakery for superior soups, salads and baked goods. In any case, you won't go hungry. For our very large party, they brought in a huge king salmon and cooked it over the coals, and served several side dishes and a dessert. The price was more than reasonable, and that meal was as good as any restaurant in the city.

The service must be mentioned. Phil and Mary greeted us like we were rock stars. By the end of our stay, they felt like old friends. The welcome they extended at every opportunity was warm, sincere and generous. Amy, too, went beyond her duties frequently to make us comfortable and happy.

Most importantly, I want to commend Charlene for her wonderful service, patient re-adjustments, and unbelievably friendly and accommodating help getting this all together. We sure needed it! 21 of us descended on the Stehekin Lodge in July. Organizing the group was challenging, since we are all ages from 2 to 80, and schedules and needs are all over the map. She not only made sure that all our needs were met, but when my mother was hurt just three days before the planned reunion, she shifted our schedules to meet our new needs. This she did with grace, humor and sympathy! Thank you so much, Charlene.

After the narrated boat ride up Lake Chelan to Stehekin, we checked in to North Cascades Lodge. We booked a king bed room and it was very comfortable. Good lighting, storage space in the bedroom and bathroom, and of course, the beautiful view of the lake and mountains from the balcony. We found the staff to be very helpful and friendly and being next to the National Park Headquarters Building was very convenient for planning hikes, etc. The bike and kayak rentals are reasonable and very close to the lodge. We especially enjoyed the bike ride to Rainbow Falls with a stop at the bakery along the way. We had several meals at the lodge dining room. The servers were friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The French Toast and Blueberry Pancakes were excellent breakfast choices. We returned to Chelan on the float plane with pilot, Doug. He pointed out landmarks and attractions as we flew over the beautiful Lake Chelan. The float plane ride was a great experience!

There are many great places to stay in Stehekin and this is one of them. My husband and I along with two kids ages 9 and 11 stayed at the Lodge last weekend 7/30/14 and again, found Stehekin to be one of our favorite places on the planet. We learned from past trips and packed food to cook (there are carts that help you load everything onto the Lady of the Lake) and plenty of cookware in the cabins. The Loge restaurant is good but not for every meal over multiple days. We took advantage of the kayaks and paddle boat belonging to the Lodge and had a blast swimming in the crystal clear water. Renting bikes couldn't have been easier--It's just across from the Lodge and Ron the owner is also the teacher of the one room school house. The bakery is easy for kids to bike to as is "The Garden" which is on the road to the bakery and this garden is incredible! Consider picking up some fresh produce to eat on your stay. Lastly, if traveling here with kids, don't miss out on the junior ranger program at the ranger station located next to the lodge. They have fun activities for kids and great talks twice each day about animals, habitats and geological wonders. This place is incredible!

My wife, daughter and I stayed one night here in early July. After a stunning two hour ferry trip up the lake we arrived at the beautiful location of Stehekin. It is quite stunning. The lodge was really clean, with comfortable beds, and with one of the greatest views from the room you could ever imagine. We sat on the patio looking out at the lake and the mountains, and immediately wished we had booked in for several days, it was so quiet, peaceful and beautiful here. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely come back here again.

What a wonderful hideaway!! Very clean and comfortable national park accommodations. We stayed in a basic updated lodge room, #21. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. The location was perfect for us since we preferred to explore the quaint little town by foot instead of bus. The residents were extremely friendly. Walked to bike rental, bakery and hiking trails. Park headquarters are right next door as well as a great little cabin full of crafts and gifts made by Stehekin residents. Sunrise and sunset from the front porch. Can't wait to return!
