“Wonderful, friendly, great location”
Reviewed 25 May 2009

We had a terrific stay at this B&B! We were there for the weekend to do some wine tasting and relax in the sunshine - the Sunnyside Inn was in a great location to do just that. No, the town is nothing to write home about (it's a small dairying town that basically rolls up the sidewalk at night) but it's right in the middle of wine country with about 40 wineries within a 20 min drive in any direction.

We loved that this place felt like staying at a good friend's house; very relaxing and friendly, instead of being fancy or stuffy. We stayed in the Jean room, which was HUGE - very comfortable and quiet. The breakfasts were great, and the evening desserts yummy. The outdoor patio was perfect for hanging out in the sun and reading a magazine after breakfast, or enjoying the sunset and drinking some wine after dinner.

I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a fun, relaxing place to stay.

This is a great hotel for wine tasting in the Yakima Valley Region.

I'm a stickler for cleanliness. The hotel is good for cleanliness. I would prefer a bit more attention to detail but overall it is clean.

The decor has been updated. Maybe they've done some work since the other reviews. The pictures speak for themself.

The bedding and decorations are of good quality. Don't expect 1,000 thread count Egyptian Cotton - but clean nice bedding. It isn't luxorious - but it is nice and quaint.

It is very quiet - on a side-street.

This is not Napa. Sunnyside is not Yountville nor St. Helena. You won't see the rich and famous or multi-million dollar homes.

On the other hand this is a great area for wine tasting. Most tastings are free. Those that are not are a nominal charge and they'll generally refund the charge with the purchase of a single bottle. There aren't 10 million plus visitors so don't expect the traffic jams of the Silverado trail. Do expect to taste exceptional wines at great prices. Personally, I'm sick and tired of trying mediocre Napa/Sonoma Cabernets priced at $30.00 on up.

In the Yakima Valley - you will see Napa/Sonoma like it was 30-40 years ago. You will meet winemakers and maybe an owner.

Sunnyside is blue-collar. But there is good low-priced food. We really enjoyed the local brew-pub. Also, the owners directed us to a local Mexican restaurant that had the best Fajitas I ever had (and I'm including Mexico). Don't expect Haute-cuisine in Sunnyside.

Sunnyside is a great starting point for explorying the wine regions. The Sunnyside B&B is a good value - or you could spend more and stay at the Comfort Inn right next to the highway.

  • Liked — Size, location, and quietness of the room
  • Disliked — Could be a little bit cleaner - put in close quarters with others at breakfast

We stayed here while visiting the wine country and were greatly disappointed. The evening snack was popcorn. The 'fresh cooked pastries' were a single hockey puck sized cold, dry biscuit served with jelly. There was a small plate of fruit, mostly watermelon, served for four (It was about 1 and a half times the size of what most places serve to one person.... and with mostly watermelon, not very elegant or 'breakfast like") other item was quiche. Rooms were 'centrally cooled' and temp was hard to regulate, vent is either open (cold) or closed (too hot) in our basement room that felt like a basement room. I would not come back or recommend to a friend. Price of $109 is not worth it.

I stay here frequently for work. They are updating the rooms and the ones completed are very nice. The food is good and plentiful. Don and Karen are gracious hosts and it is the most comfortabel place to stay in town. Sunnyside doesn't have a lot to offer but it is well positioned for those wishing to experience the south central Washington wine country.

We stayed here for a couple nights while on a wine tour. It's comfortable, but could stand some updating. It's like staying at your grandmothers house, or a B&B in England but more expensive. The room itself however was a great size. Breakfast is the same, just like something you'd get at your grandmothers house, well cooked but average. There is nothing to do in town and we never did find a good restaraunt. I would not stay here again, I would stay in Yakima or Walla Walla where there are several nice places to stay and eat.

This is a nice place to stay although the decor is dated. The owners are still living in the 70's by their decor. The room we stayed in was very large and the jacuzzi in the room was huge. The evening snack was delicious and the breakfast was great. The town leaves much to be desired.
