We went here for date night, last minute change of plans, so we didn't have a reservation. One warning, make a reservation. If you don't then you'll have a good chance of getting seated right next to the band. The music was very jazzy and lounge style, a nice compliment to the overall atmosphere. I had the Walker burger (one of the best burgers I've ever eaten), she had the half chicken (prepared to perfection). The price reflects a fine dining experience, drinks, appetizers, and entrees but I did not mind given the quality, service, and overall atmosphere. Next time we'll be smarter and make a reservation because we definitely plan to return.

This restaurant is a secret gem! The atmosphere is cozy and warm... the food, from appetizer to incredible entree is over the top... the wine and bar options are great... and on the right evening, there is excellent live Jazz!

If you're looking for Tacoma's BEST hamburger look no further than Maxwell's! The Walker Burger is simply divine and don't get me started about the Rib Eye Steak (can you tell we like beef). Maxwell's is our families (we have teenagers, it is not an appropriate restaurant for small children) favorite restaurant and the go to place for all birthday's and special occasions. Check it out, you won't be disappointed you did!

We have eaten here on a regular basis for years. We think the food is always great. We love the halibut, and the pan fried chicken. The wine list is good, in that there is a good selection and the prices are fair. However, something needs to be done about the staff! Honestly, I do not understand the attitude they display toward their customers. Recently, three of us had dinner here on a Friday night. We had reservations. We arrived on time. The hostess seated us and told us our waiter (Neil?) was "amazing". Well, I don't know about "amazing", "out of this world" would have been more appropriate. We were ignored, forgotten, and made to feel that we were an afterthought. His attitude was appalling. Everything was done with a smirk and an attitude. You were made to feel judged every time you ordered something, and every time you asked for something. Example: we ordered the cheese plate which cmes with lots of cheese, but only six small slices of bread. Upon asking for more bread we were given attitude, and no bread! When we asked again, the lack of response was blamed on some fellow worker we had never seen. The same experience occurred when we ask for a rag to clean up a dirty spot on the table, we noticed upon sitting down, i.e. non-attention, and then blame someone else. Totally unacceptable. Let me be clear, we love the physical space of ths restaurant, we love the food! But more often than not the wait staff, particularly "Neil" or similar staff detract from what should be an otherwise great experience. The only reason I an not giving this restaurant a "poor" rating is that I would hate to see the negative trip advisor reviews impact it's business in a negative way. However, I would note that being ranked #67 in Tacoma should not be a badge of honor for an establishment that should rank near the top. The only reason this restaurant does not rate higher is because someone is not paying attention to the "front of the house". Recommended for the food, wait staff are a problem.

Love Maxwell's! The staff is amazing, the chef is incredible, and the food stands alone. Great atmosphere, interesting cocktails, good happy hour, and the live music on Friday nights is always fun!
