“Classy Glass”
Reviewed 17 August 2012

The artists change from time to time but the collection of glass works here is so amazing. The gallery is loaded with so many wonderful peices. And there was a very knowledgable guide who told us about many of the pieces and how they were made.
In the Hot Shop they are actually blowing glass and creating new things and that is very interesting and informative. Located on the waterfront makes the location very nice for lunch a stroll. A great way to spend the afternoon in Tacoma.

“the hot shop is a must see!”
Reviewed 17 August 2012

Beautiful glass work on display inside and out. The outdoor works should be seen at night when they are lighted, so plan to come in the day and night. The Hot Shop is fascinating! We watched 5-6 glassblowers and apprentices work on creating items for the local visiting artist who was working alongside them in the shop. This is also streamed live online. They do offer classes, but they are a little pricey.

“Nice small museum”
Reviewed 15 August 2012

Has no Chihuly pieces inside - has several on the bridge over to the museum. The museum itself has traveling exhibits of glass, and a glass blowing workshop. The latter was fantastic. We saw them creating petals and stems for an outdoor glass piece. Also - the large glass sculpture outside bears viewing under different light conditions.

“Amazing”
Reviewed 14 August 2012

Never in my wildest imagination did I know that one of the greatest artists in the world is from our area. The glass works of Chehuley are totally beautiful, amazing and absolutely breathtaking works of art are on display. We are so fortunate to have this exceptional artist in our neighborhood.

“Excellent Attraction”
Reviewed 14 August 2012

We were totally awed by our visit to this attraction. The hot glass shop was an unexpected pleasure. The guest artist was orchestrating the activities of five other glass artisans on the creation of some of her designs. She took time to describe what was going on and why. We have been to other hot glass shops but this was the best one so far. The museum had exhibits of outside artists and these were exceptionally good. A volunteer docent led a group around the exhibits and was helpful in explaining the displays of glass art. Fascinating stuff!
