Whether or not you love automobiles - by that I mean that you consider that they can be works of art vs. simply transportation - you should definitely visit the LeMay. Decades of transportation are represented - from the earliest jalopies to the "space age" and solar powered. The luxury vehicles from the early to mid 1900s are absolutely gorgeous, and you don't have to use much imagination to picture an Astor or Rockefeller leaning against the fender. There are luxury autos, racing autos, utility autos, motorcycles, concept autos, and on and on. They even have a Flintmobile (for those of us who remember Wilma and Fred). You could spend hours touring the multiple floors of the museum, and still feel that you had missed something.

“Area history and cars all in one place”
Reviewed 25 November 2013

Rotating exhibits keep LeMay interesting no matter how many visits. A great way to learn the history of the automobile and the Lemay family. Hands on video driving makes it fun for every age.

“A truly superb collection”
Reviewed 24 November 2013

This is a marvellous museum of the American car. However, it also has a visiting British section as well as a special event relating to Corvettes (on our visit). YQuite frankly, this is a great place for adults and children alike. There is so much to do and at $14 per person, it is excellent value. This is not a stale or stagnant museum because the cars change/rotate and it is essentially a collection of cars acquired by the Le May family. The docents are extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. As you go round the Museum which is over several floors (you start at the top and work your way down) it is so nice to be greeted by the docents who are not intrusive but if you want to ask them for information, they are very knowledgeable.

The museum is superbly constructed because you go from the top to the bottom on a very gradual gradient which is also perfect for wheelchair users. There is a small shop. However, the real essence of this museum is that it is large, beautifully constructed, has excellent knowledgeable staff and the personal family connection (the family are still acquiring cars) is fascinating. There are also areas where you can test your driving skills and see films. There is a film about how Ford first started in the racing world which in fact kick started Ford itself. It is well worth watching. There is a massive amount to see and do. The collection is enormous by anyone's standard and includes electric cars, early cars, unusual cars and of course American cars in abundance. There are display televisions giving relevant text as well as information boards which had been extremely well put together. It is just about the right amount of information so that you are not "bogged down" in unnecessary detail but which tell the story superbly.

We only have one slight observation and that is that a large number of the cars have points of information on cards which are put on the windscreen of the cars and the print is rather too small to be able to read it. Clearly, this can easily be improved but it needs to be given a little thought. All the other information boards and televisions are superbly put together. It is of course difficult when the collection is so enormous. It would also be rather nice to see more cars with their doors open so that the interiors can be appreciated. However, none of these comments is a criticism of this excellent museum, they are just some observations we make.

TIP: To make the most of this museum, make sure you allow at least 3 hours. It is great for children and adults alike. We would very much recommend a visit.

“Nostalgia at its best!”
Reviewed 20 November 2013

I am not a car enthusiast but this place was a great time. The variety of the cars are great and they change them out so you can go more than once. They layout is cool and they have different extra activities that add to the overall experience.

TIPS:
Wear comfortable walking shoes
Keep in mind that you will have to pay for parking when you arrive.
Make sure you have a full battery on your camera.
