“Love this spot for fattening fixes”
Reviewed 15 May 2013

This has been one of my favorite sweet spots for many years and the different owners. Bee stings and almond cookie bars are either sold out or a rare occasion so I try to get in early to grab the goodies because they do sell fast. However, the cakes tend to dry out too fast if not baked fresh within hours of consumption. Some of our family favorites are the chocolate whipped cream, chocolate buttercream, cheesecake (which is delightfully cakey not so creamy) and marzipan. The whole cakes average $38, which is a great price compared to corporate store-bought cakes (which tend to taste as such).

If one chooses to consume coffee and pastries (or even German sandwiches) on the premises, there are extra charges, as stated on the menu board.

They also sell gift certificates and the parking lot is shared with Hess Deli but is always crowded.

“My Favorite German Deli in Lakewood”
Reviewed 6 February 2013

I stop in this deli for lunch at least once per month and have never been disappointed. The staff is always friendly, but it it the food that keeps me coming back over and over again. The breads are always fresh and the sandwiches made to order. The pastries? They are fantastic! Love this place!

“Pastries better than those in Bavaria!”
Reviewed 2 February 2013

These are the best German pastries to be had in the South Sound. Many of their specialties (coffee cake, cookies) are better than what's available at most Bavarian bakeries. The coffee cake is amazing! And next door Hess German Bakery and Deli/Market is a great place to get authentic pretzels and German convenience foods like Knödel mix.

The decor hasn't been touched since the 1980s, and it's not the place to go for broccoli soup, but the pastries are fantastic for take-out.

“Authentic German Food; Excellent Pastries”
Reviewed 27 January 2013

This place has been in business for at least 30 years. It is in the same brick office building as the awesome Hess German Bakery and Deli/Market, although the two businesses are not connected. While this is not the best German/European restaurant in the area (That honor goes to Bruno's European Cafe in Parkland), the food here is well-prepared and authentic. Best feature is the selection of German pastries, which are as good as you'd find in Heidelberg or Berlin!
