Just completed a 4-day stay at Cameo Heights and loved every minute of it. We made our reservations very late, so we ended up having to move from one room (Asian) to another (Spanish) for a couple of nights, and then back again. But the owners and staff were so accommodating, that didn't affect us one bit.
The property is absolutely beautiful. Every guest room is meticulously appointed and clean. You'll be encouraged by the owners to inspect every nook and cranny if you like. They even have a fun little game they invite you to play where you'll be doing just that. I won't spoil the surprise if you haven't been there, but believe me, you'll not be disappointed with the cleanliness of your room or the entire mansion. The owners (Alan and Deanne) are wonderful people. And the staff they have working there couldn't do enough to make sure our stay was enjoyable.
Every morning at 8:00, we were treated to an in-room wake-up beverage (coffee, tea or juice) and pastry (and morning news letter from Alan - which I truly looked forward to reading every morning), followed at 9:00 a.m. by a full sit-down breakfast in the restaurant area. Deanne did most of the cooking at breakfast although Alan chimed in one morning showing us all how to artistically cut up an apple to make it look like a swan. I would never have guessed he was that talented. All fresh ingredients. Deanne even smoked her own sausage one night to serve in the next morning's frittata. Incredible attention to detail throughout.
We ate dinner at the Vine Restaurant one evening in the mansion and loved every bite. The chef (Nathan) is incredibly imaginative in his menu selections and presentation of each course. Came to our table and explained each ingredient, even down to the 5 or 6 different cheeses he served on the cheese plate. My favorite course was the shrimp ceviche appetizer. If it's on the menu when you go, don't pass it by. If you find the restaurant price for the 7-course meal a little high or think 7 courses is too much food, you can pick and choose your courses a-la-carte. But I would strongly suggest doing all 7 courses. The appetizer and entrée courses were very generous, but the others are just enough to satisfy and get you ready for the next. Loved it all and thought it was worth the price we paid for a special-occasion dinner.
We truly felt this was more like a family visit than renting a room on vacation. Very comfortable accommodations and we were treated superbly. We'll definitely be returning.
