“Delightful place”
Reviewed 12 August 2014

We loved this cute place near Trout Lake. The service was excellent with friendly, helpful staff. The room was clean and had everything we needed. The little extra touches were great. There is a lovely little park area across the parking lot, good for relaxing. The view of Mt. Adams from this area is gorgeous! Make sure to have the waffles for breakfast, delicious! (and included). We used the coin-op washer and dryer, which was next to the hot tub. Room had refrigerator and wifi. There is not much within walking distance and the town of Trout Lake is a short drive away.

We stayed here over the weekend with our son and dog. The room was very clean and smelled great. The room was bigger than most standard rooms and the shower was awesome. They had a welcome bag of treats for our dog when we arrived and a dog bed in the room. The decor was really cute. The waffles for breakfast were great. I would definitely recommend.

I stay there a couple times each year just to explore the surrounding area. It is a comfortable place to use as a central location for day trips around the area. And of course the ambience, of each room, can't be beat for such a rural area.

Although Summer's may be the most popular time of year, Spring and Autumn are outrageously pretty.

Room Tip: You'll want a room with the view of Mt Adams.

We stayed at the TLVI for two nights over the 4th of July Weekend. In general, it was drastically above the quality of lodging I've come to expect in more rural parts of Washington -- and better than the best of most of our small and mid-sized cities, too. It doesn't hurt that it's basically the only game in town...but they'd stack up very well against quality motels and inns across the state.

Let me explain the "4" instead of the "5." By and large this may be a factor of room location. We booked very late for a holiday weekend, and all that was available was Room 1. Room 1 is next door to the inn's laundry and kitchen, and a door down from the lobby/gift shop/breakfast room. The laundry was rolling until about 11:30pm our first night there, and the morning conversations began around 7am. The same was true the second night, but much quieter and not as disruptive. The only other vague grumble -- which I'm willing to own might have been a misunderstanding -- is that our room didn't get straightened between our first and second nights. It wasn't a big enough deal to enquire, but the language in the "guest services" book suggested that it was a daily deal.

Almost everything I have to write is positive, though. On arrival we were warmly greeted, given some basic area information, and oriented to breakfast. Breakfast is a pretty minimal continental (fruit, pastries, toast, bagels, and cereal), plus the OPTIONAL addition of a free sweet potato waffle with huckleberries and warm syrup.

Dear, dear friends. Wait the seven minutes and eat the waffle. Do not be fearful of the "sweet potato," as it's present to kick the fluffy waffles from very good to exceptional. We each had one, both mornings, and it was more than adequate sustenance. The drip was good, too. Oh, and while it felt a bit gluttonous, I did try one of the plastic wrapped sweet rolls, heated in the microwave for a few seconds. Totally worth it.

The room was more than comfortable, with a small table and two chairs, two queen sized beds, and a large bathroom. The room was ADA compliant, and while a little dark it was well lighted...and the small window looked out onto a meadow and some trees with Mt. Adams peeking through the trees. Hard to beat. All was clean, well kept, and...perhaps a bit heavy on the log furniture for my tastes, but fully in keeping with the theme. There is a satellite tv, which we didn't bother with.

We look forward to going back to the TLVI, although will be better prepared to request our room in advance and that it not be #1.

Room Tip: As noted above, Room #1 is liable to more noise due to laundry/kitchen/dining. Not bad, but noticea...

We were very pleasantly surprised when we checked into our room. It was spacious, clean, pleasant colors and extra touches throughout. The bathroom was spacious and divided from the sink with a pocket door. Best shower ever! The breakfast that is included in the price was very good. Excellent service at the tables and the hostess kept checking to see if anything else was needed, or if we wanted seconds on our waffles. The town of Trout Lake is tiny but interesting. We also had a great dinner at the newly renovated Trout Lake Country Inn. We went for one of their dinner specials - just three but all freshly prepared. Just a great stay overall!

My husband and I came to Kyak at the Disappearing South Prairie Lake and found this great cozy looking hotel in Trout Lake. The staff were all very friendly and mentioned that they also had Homestead Cabin we could upgrade to. Absolutely beautiful and private! We highly recommend staying here. South Prairie Lake still had water in it on June 1, 2014 and was so beautiful to paddle around in. It only has water in it from April/May to mid-June. Check with the Forest Service office on how to get there it is worth seeing. We also paddled around Trout Lake, parking is very limited and the lake is a Nature Preserve with many plant species and birds to see.

Room Tip: There are several rooms back off of the main road that you might prefer. Be sure to ask about their...

Recently stayed a couple of nights at Trout Lake Motel with my family while snowmobiling on Mt Adams. Very nice facilities, very clean and comfortable. More of a mini country resort than a motel. After a hard day of riding it was nice to be able to enjoy the hot tub. Decent WiFi coverage, mini fridge, microwave and small table in each room made it a comfortable stay. The owners are very friendly and take care of any needs as well as provide a country breakfast with fresh waffles that is included in the reasonable price. We will be back again.
