Take a picnic lunch and then take a walk around the area of the falls when you are in Tumwater. Enjoy the birds singing and the warm sun on your face as you take in the falls.

This is a pleasant little park like setting offering an easy walk along the Deschuettes River to the lower Tumwater Falls on well maintained trail. It's next to the now defunct Olympia Brewing Company. There's a grassy area next to a visitor's center, which we didn't go to. Scenic spot to stretch your legs. One could probably picnic there or try the restaurant next to the park. Good spot to take the kids to burn off some energy.

Tumwater Falls Park has several small and large waterfalls. The park has several walking paths, large picnic areas, a public restroom, and glorious views. Events such as the annual community Duck Dash are held here in the Summer months. Well worth the visit!

I am embarrassed to say that I have lived in the area for 8 years and have been missing out on this gorgeous park. It truly is a diamond in the middle of the city. The smells are from the deep woods and the walk is so peaceful. This is my new favorite walk. So close....yet makes you feel so far away.

I have fond memories about this park. I grew up in the area and I am proud to say that the city has done a good job of preserving the area. They are working on removing all the invasive ivy from the hill sides and bridges.

IF you are in the area, this is one spot worth the stop. They have decent restrooms, vending machine and water drinking fountains. There is a playground for children of near all ages. The fish hatchery is great for families who are interested in that process. There are workers there most of the time who will be willing to answer questions.

The trail that leads down the river and up the other side is beautiful at almost any time of year. Spring time has flowering trees and summer has rhodies and other blooming bushes. Hot on a summer day? At the bridge, there is a set of steps that leads down to a platform near the base of the falls, the mist coming off them are quite relieving. The building across the way is what is left of the original Olympia Brewing facility. There are informative signs on the trail that further explains the history of Tumwater.

Enjoy!
