We recently enjoyed our third stay at Alderbrook in the last year. We live in Edmonds and Alderbrook has become our Go To Place for a night or two when we need a recharge and change of scenery. We appreciate that it's convenient to get to via Kingston ferry. Our stay has always included a massage at the spa. The spa easily compares to other higher-end spas and is one of the best features of the property. We've been taking advantage of spa package specials which are a great value. Alderbrook has a very cozy feeling in the winter months. The rooms in the main lodge have oversize soaking tubs which are great before bed. We can always count on fresh local oysters and other Pacific Northwest fare at the restaurant. For a change, the unassuming Robin Hood Restaurant around the corner is also a surprisingly good meal option with a charming atmosphere. A drive to Sequim is a good day trip with a stop at Hamma Hamma Seafood Store. I always feel impressed by the massive stone fireplace in the reception/lobby area. And of course the resident cats, Alder and Brook, can be found lounging there while guests read and play games.

Alderbrook is approximately 2 hours drive South of Seattle. The last hour of the drive is along the shorelines and especially interesting as you drive from the area near Belfair along the shores of Hood Canal.

Alderbrook had a major rebuild 10 years or so ago and has a large, beautifully designed main lodge but also has cute 2 bedroom cabins.

If you might be thinking of this for the 4th of July, they have fireworks and music the day before. Better get reservations for that ASAP.

You can bring your boat because a launch and tie-up are available. The water in the area is good for swimming during the summer but they also have a swimming pool. Nice grounds.

This would be a nice stop for visitors coming from anywhere who would like to enjoy the best of the Northwest. "Locals" who want a getaway will find they will return.

Room had no fan in the bathroom and there was insufficient lighting in the room in the desk area. The food in the restaurant is exceptional and provides gluten free bread at breakfast. The sausage at breakfast had too much pepper. The stay was very relaxing; however, we could hear people in the other room sneezing.

This resort is less than 2 hours away from Seattle, and makes a for a great weekend getaway. Check-in was efficient and friendly we were on our way to our 2 br cottage in less than 5 minutes.

The cottage was well equipped. The beds were pretty nice but the pillows were downright pathetic. they were down pillows with not much down in them. this made for a not so great sleep. My two main criteria on judging a hotel are the beds and the shower. The shower was decent, what is nice is the Molton Brown amenities in the bathroom, a nice touch.

We ate in the lounge and restaurant and both have better than average food, the service while friendly was a bit on the slow side, but ultimately didn't bother us as we were there to relax from the hustle and bustle of Seattle.

The spa is nice if a bit small. One of my pet peeves is always feeling a bit shorted. The treatments I had booked were suppsoed to last 90 minutes and was finished at about the 75 minute mark.

We were on a bit of a mission to see if this would be a good venue for an upcoming anniversary/vow renewal. While I would say overall the place is above average, it just never seemed to deliver on the wow factor I had been hoping for.

Would I stay here again? Probably if I could find a good deal. There are not a lot of options to eat nearby off property which should be taken into consideration of a more lengthy stay at this property.

First here at a conference about 45 years ago. Thought it was great then, much more to it now. Situated right on Hood Canal with snow-capped mountains beyond, the lodge is grand in the old tradition, spacious and comfortable with guest rooms well appointed. It is family friendly with an enclosed swimming pool and pets are welcomed, too. The bar and dining room boast beautiful views and menus to match. Unique and generous offerings include wild boar and salmon, lamb, steak prepared with interest and aplomb. Mac & Cheese for kids was not out of a box, but had a just as much attention as other entrees and the desserts were awesome. Breakfast and lunch were inviting, too, and the cinnamon roll a meal in itself. Staff were friendly and quick to be helpful.

Room Tip: If children in the group, request rooms adjacent to pool for convenience. Garden view rooms do have...

Alderbrook Resort is one of the most beautiful resorts we have been to and we have been to many here in the Northwest and other parts of the US. The property is gorgeous, gives one the sense that you are a million miles away from civilization. We stayed only one night but it felt like a week. So tranquil, beautiful and relaxing. Staff was awesome, room was quiet, well appointed and very, very comfortable. Dining for Dinner and Breakfast was exceptional, with great service and really good food. We used the huge swimming pool, the jacuzzi and sauna as well. When it came time for bed, we were so relaxed and happily full filled that sleep came within seconds! Alderbrook Resort is definately on our agenda for a revisit!

We expected Alderbrook to be very nice based on reviews and comments from friends and it was. The location is excellent and if you like Northwest style outdoors weekends you should be happy for a few days. It was very nicely decorated for the Holiday season.
I would like to return to see how it is in the summer and would expect it to be excellent. I observed many examples of great customer service for my family and also for others.
I would encourage them to think about changes to the restaurant menu... A little more selection on the breakfast menu would be nice? Basically I think early and mid-day should offer some options that are not so expensive for family fare. The service was very good and the quality of the food was very good.

Room Tip: any water view room should be good.. the cabins looked like they would be really great also
