“Good for just chillin'”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 July 2014

Very nice rooms and laid back resort. It is away from everything. If you are looking for a place to just chill, then this is it. If you are looking for any type of excitement, then look elsewhere. I enjoyed it because I was happy to just look at the water and sit around the fire pit in the evening. My teenagers were bored. When I go back I will leave them at home. The summer is best because the patio dining is an option and is a totally diffrent menu from the restaurant, which is open year round. The restaurant is formal with more gormet foods, the patio is burgers, fish and chips, chowder....what I consider summer resort casual pub fare. It is very good and resonably priced for a resort. The restaurant is over priced and mediocre. It would be so much better if they had an outdoor pool or the pool they have would open up to the outside in the summer. Nice pier with kayaking available.

Very clean rooms. I have a daughter with allergies and most hotels with carpeting exacerbate her asthma, this was not one of them. Very clean carpet with low pile. Also, very clean bathroom including the shower curtain-which can sometimes reveal unwanted guests. With a two month old, 4 year old and hubby we did not feel crowded in our room- even with our infant bed, carrier, luggage and cooler. My daughter enjoyed the pool and the pier, very beautiful setting.

The views are amazing. The staff was friendly and very helpful. We had a lot of fun going out on the water every morning in kayaks or paddle boards or hydro bikes. The food was good. I thought the restaurant was a little pricey, but we enjoyed our evening. Our room was a nice size and had a very pretty view. This hotel is not very close to the main part of the park. We went for a hike at the Staircase Rapids just outside of Hoodsport because we did not want to spend a couple hours in the car.

This is a very attractive hotel in an incredible setting. Our room was quiet, comfortable, and nicely furnished. We were just passing through, so we didn't have time to take advantage of all the amenities, but we did have breakfast in the main restaurant. It was absolutely outstanding!. The views across the lake were lovely (despite the typical pacific northwest weather), but it was the quality of the food that made it one of the most memorable meals of our trip. Highly recommended.

An ideal place to just hang out and relax or partake in numerous activities for couples and families.
There are cabins to rent as well has spacious rooms. Internet is almost non-existent ,depending on the provider I guess. However, there is WIFI if you want to keep in touch. The large whirlpool and pool were low in chlorine as we understand the water is a mix of seawater and fresh water.
Shower and change rooms, sauna and steam rooms. This is a true getaway place where you can soak up the pristine surroundings, relax with a good book, go strolling, do water activities, golf and enjoy the good food (servings are quite large)and service. This is definitely a place to come back to. The golf club has a nice lunch menu. The room was fully equipped with robes, frig, microwave, iron, safe and coffee brewer. Nothing was left wanting. The only annoyance was the air conditioning unit which was very loud.

I invited my sister to the breakfast at Alderbrook for her 60th birthday in June. Our family has lived three miles from the Inn for four generations,(no, we aren't the Gates) so we are familiar with the good times and not so good times of Alderbrook over the years. Still, it holds a special place in our hearts, and three months previously I had had a fantastic breakfast there with a friend. So I thought this would be a wonderful way to kick off my sister's big day. I knew something was amiss when we were seated in the bar...for breakfast? The dining room had only a couple of patrons! It was dark and well, a bar. The server was distracted and seemed without much knowledge of the menu. Omletes in the $20+ price range, apiece, should blow your socks off, right? Won't be back to eat there until I hear the food is back to being something special. Several weeks later my family went to the golf course and it was suggested we have lunch at the club house afterwards. It was quick, tasty and our patio table had a view of the Olympics that was delicious of itself. By the way, we appreciate that the golf course is open to the public. When we scheduled a tee time recently, it seemed we would have a lovely several hours. When we got there, they had crammed in so many golfers, it was frankly stressful, like a pile up on the freeway. The pro actually drove out in a cart to make sure people weren't playing too slowly! All that being said, if you love the canal, it's the best thing in the area.
