We stayed at Betty MacDonald Farm last year and it was a perfect weekend, actually more than we could have hoped for. We tempted fate and came back this year, just in time for the full moon. It was as wonderful as the previous year! We stayed in the Cedar Loft with breathtaking views from the sun drenched balcony of Mt. Rainier, a Bald Eagle and her young and the Puget Sound. Judith, our hostess has made the room incredibly comfortable with rich linens, fine china, a kitchen stocked with everything you could ever need and a library fit for the most voracious of readers. The experience was quite magical and needless to say we will be back!

We were booked for 2 nights in the cottage, but were so charmed by its peaceful and magnificent setting we cancelled our other 5 nights in Seattle and spent the rest of our vacation at the Betty Macdonald farm. Judith is a wonderful hostess full of information and enthusiasm while knowing to give you privacy. The cottage is fully stocked including home made raspberry jam, and a heavenly long claw foot tub. The bed was simply marvelous with lovely linens. But the view of not only the property but of Mt. Rainier is astounding. The bald eagles were nesting, the raccoon paid a visit and the deer munched right by the deck. We will return.

Room Tip: If you are looking modern high end amenities and a party atmosphere this is not the property for you...

We just came home from our second trip to the Betty MacDonald Farm and what a fabulous weekend it was! Judith provides everything that you could desire: the softest, most plentiful towels, every type of dish and cooking utensil you could imagine and bed linens soft and cozy enough to keep you sleeping like a baby. We were fortunate enough to stay in the Cedar Loft during a full moon and will definitely come back to try to recapture that incredible sight! We were also lucky enough to see the eagle and its baby nesting in a tree close to our deck. Fantastic! What a great place to get away from it all.

Room Tip: We've stayed in two different rooms and both were exquisitely appointed with a rustic charm and...

We spent one night at the Betty McDonald Farm and wish we could have stayed longer. It is in a beautiful area, overlooking Puget Sound, and close to the Faunterloy Ferry and to the town of Vashon. We stayed in the cottage, a charming 2 bedroom cottage with a well-equipped kitchen and bathroom. Judith, the innkeeper, left breakfast supplies for us which were good, including some home made raspberry jam. We especially enjoyed seeing an eagle on top of a tree in front of our deck--and we saw the nest as well. The beds were very comfortable and of course it was quiet. It is the perfect place for a get-away, and while Vashon is only 20 minutes by ferry from West Seattle, it is a different world--one to which we hope to return.

The Betty McDonald Farm is my favorite getaway. It's very romantic and serene with an amazing view of the Puget Sound--a truly magical and unique place. The owner, Judith, is a lovely host and respects your privacy. There is an array of interesting books, magazines, and movies for entertainment. My husband and I have stayed here several times over the years and it is the most relaxing place we have stayed--a piece of paradise. The eclectic, rustic, and vintage style gives it a homey very feel. Very charming and peaceful retreat.

We had a lovely anniversary stay. First time. The loft was truly a retreat. The gardens are gorgeous. The accommodations are comfortable without feeling "precious"-- very homey. Owner Judith is helpful, thorough, and knows when to step out of the way and just let you be. Can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: ps about the loft... lots of stairs in the barn to get up there... not for those for whom accessibil...
