Methow River Lodge & Cabins

We stayed here for 3 nights recently and from the beginning to the end our experience was great. We stayed in the lodge and everything was new and smelled of fresh cut pine. The hotel & bathroom were clean. The bed was really comfortable and the patio led out directly to the river. There were chairs and a table on the patio and a picnic table that was closer to the river. We felt very comfortable here and the owners were very, very nice, and helpful too! If we ever go back to Winthrop (and I think we will) we will definitely stay at the Methow River Lodge or in the cabins! The suspension walking bridge was not far from the hotel and a short walk to the town. The town is charming with a lot of cool places to shop, and eat, and had a nice old museum too. The food was great almost everywhere we ate. So many friendly people/shop owners in this town, it was hard to leave!

Room Tip: I don't think there are any bad rooms, however, we did hear walking of people up above us, so if...

This is a wonderful, peaceful place to stay. It is right on the river. We stayed in a cabin, number 4, and it had a full kitchen, living room and of course a bedroom and nice bathroom. Very new feeling but in a log cabin atmosphere. It was very clean and they did a nice job decorating it. There is a wonderful bridge that you can walk across the river and be in town in less than 5 minuets, but the views of the mountain and river kept you longer than 5. The owners are very nice and accommodating. You can rent these out for a long time if you wish or one night. They do have a two bedroom as well. We will definitely stay here again! We walked into town for drinks and dinner but was very disappointed in "the old school house brewery". Bad service and bad food. But we found this nice place to eat breakfast, The Duck Brand. Great food and service.

Room Tip: Cabins also have barbeques outside. I think I would prefer a cabin over the rooms.

We stayed in one of the smaller cabins but it was plenty roomy and comfortable for the two of us during our visit in late January 2014. We had hoped to use it as a base to go snowshoeing but alas, the weather did not cooperate. However that didn't stop us from venturing forth, exploring the town, watching a youth hockey tournament on the nearby skating rink, taking in the view of the river just beyond the back door, and getting out to some of the many nearby sights. Rich and Dolly were great hosts and we certainly will be coming back again next year to get that snowshoeing trip in.

Room Tip: There is also a 'lodge' which is a newer two story building, but the cabins are great. The...

We stayed in one of the cabins adjacent to the lodge. View of river from cabin. Very peaceful. Centrally located if you use the suspension bridge near the cabins to cross into town. Bridge is only for foot traffic. Walk to nearby bakery and stores took 5 minutes and that was in the snow.
Cabin was very clean.

We stayed just one night at the Methow River Lodge in August as part of an anniversary weekend away from home. We stayed in the main lodge and had zero complaints. The staff was super nice, the rooms very clean and well-appointed, and the view of the babbling Methow River is the icing on the cake. It's also just close enough to easily walk to adorable downtown Winthrop via a pedestrian bridge and walking path. Really gorgeous spot, and very helpful front desk staff gave us great hiking and sight-seeing suggestions! Winthrop is a must for a quiet mini-vacation!

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms open up onto a nice grassy area with Adirondack chairs, 2nd floor rooms have love...

This "lodge" is actually a motel building that also has about a half dozen or so cabin accommodations on the same grounds (the cabins look very nice on the outside and on the online photos, but we didn't view them in person). We were three couples enjoying a road trip around the Cascade Loop, and we found the lodge rooms to be spacious, very comfortable, very clean, and fresh in design and fittings. All rooms offer a balcony view of the babbling river just behind the building, and there is a nearby "walking bridge" that gives folks a shortcut off-road access to the charming old part of Winthrop.

The lady at the front desk was warm, friendly and quite helpful with suggestions for nearby eateries (they have no restaurant on premises). She also chased us down by telephone a few minutes after we checked out -- to tell us that the housecleaning staff had found the Ipad that was forgotten on the couch.

This facility is truly exceptional in every way! It definitely should be awarded the 2013 Hospitality Award. The owner, Dolly, IS an absolute doll. Genuine, down-to-earth, equally accommodating to guests and staff and enthusiastically shares good info about the town of Winthrop and the surrounding area. We stayed in the lodge one night -- imagine a functioning heating/cooling unit that is QUIET! The room was squeaky clean with appointments perfectly matched to the area. Spend time sitting at the balcony table/chairs with a glass of wine while enjoying the sights and sounds of the Methow River running right in front of you. We went over to take in the fall colors, which were at their height, and ending at this wonderful lodge was the perfect ending to a perfect day. WE WILL DEFINITELY BE BACK! Don't even NEED a reason; rather just an excuse to revisit this pleasant little town and again stay at this wonderful lodge.

Room Tip: Second level offers the best views! Great Bed!!
