It's not what one would think when you think fo the word "lodge", but it is a very nice place to stay, and they are pet- friendly!!! A plus for us, as we brought our little one along, to celebrate her birthday, as well as mine. We were greeted welcomingly at reception. There was hot apple cider offered at a small table (which needed to be refilled and should be checked often; hint... it's those small touches that count sometimes after coming in from a very COLD outside. A guest should not have to tell the stafff to refill the dispenser)
The rooms are modern. The room we stayed in ( rm. 125) was abit dark in that there was not enough lighting, but a positive note(s) was that there was cookies( on the table) and milk( in the fridge) awaiting us, along with a lovely note for me ( for my birthday) and our pet ( for being a very important four-legged guest). Lovely bathroom; we loved the fact one can see the bedroom area from the tub ( a sliding partition). I also appreciate the being " green" in the fact there was not all this disposable shampoo, hand soap, etc... Comfy robes and slippers too! Note; the shower head in our shower room was not in the best location; the water would enter the toilet area!
We were suprised shortly after arriving into our room with a bottle of champagne! Mmmm, a very nice surprise! The birthday celebration continues into dinner at the Barking Frog restaurant. The food, staff and ambiance was top- notch! We cannot say anything negative about the overall experience about the restaurant... it was perfect for us. As the night ended and into the next day; one other complaint about the room ambiance is that one can hear the people above us walking about; not fun when we were trying to sleep in a little bit.
We highly recommend Willows Lodge and Barking Frog restaurant. Oh, also want to give a shout out to Fireside Cellars lounge in the hotel lobby area; excellent crepes!
