The room was super clean and very pretty. Of course, my granddaughter loved the pool and hot tub. Plenty of towels. Attendants checked frequently. Very comfy beds. Breakfast was full breakfast. Chef made whatever to order. Loved it!

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at the Hilton Garden Inn while staying in Yakima. It sounds like you had a fabulous time while enjoying the company of your granddaughter by the pool. It is always so nice to hear such wonderful reviews of families getting the time to enjoy each others company. We are very fortunate to be able to work in an environment where we can interact with our guests and be a part of this great experience. I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to share on Trip Advisor and hope to have you and your family back again in the near future.

Great place to stay downtown, close to the downtown restaurants and coffee shops. Rooms are standard HGI, which are good for me. Parking outside can be tough, but this location has underground parking -- only downside to that is you have to check in first. Staff is helpful and friendly. Overall, a solid place to stay in Yakima, one that keeps my business.

the HOTEL -
generally clean
the FRONT DESK -
polite although they did not seem prepared as there were no useful maps nor were there lists of what WAS open and available nearby on a Sunday. All they could say is that everything is closed. They could not seem to really point us to what was open in the area (knowing this is an issue they should have a complete SUNDAY 'open' LIST).
our ROOM -
King room is very small for a hotel of this level, no couch just one chair so only one of us could have a comfy sit (I'm not a fan of sitting on the bed). They did have a task chair too but not comfy for tv viewing. For sure this hotel is geared to the business traveler not a tourist. AWESOME COMFORT BED though! Room is well equipped with coffee, microwave, frig.
the HOT TUB -
we thought since the town was closed and the hotel had a hot tub we would head there ... NOOOOO the hot tub was 'temporarily closed' and no one could tell us when it would open again although we made it clear that we wanted to use it as soon as it reopened (1 hour? 6 hours?... they could not say they just told it would be LATER with no offer to call and notify us when it opened. We did not use the hot tub.)
ELEVATOR M*A*Z*E -
to get to the garage level you must take TWO different elevators on DIFFERENT SIDES of the hotel!!! (we never could figure out how to go between the two elevators from the 2nd floor level since there are NO SIGNS directing guests from the garage elevator to the main elevator nor visa versa on the 2nd level)
HOUSEKEEPING -
very thourough and very friendy! They get an A+

OUR EXPERIENCE HERE - Big DISAPPOINTMENT - Paid too much for too little. We will not stay here again. And... YAKIMA is CLOSED ON SUNDAY!
We planned a stay in the Yakima Valley wine area for four days celebrating an anniversary. After reading about the nice shops and eateries just outside the door of this Hilton we decided to make our last night in the region at the Hilton Garden. When I booked the room a week earlier for that Sunday I had noted to the hotel representative there our reason for the booking was the hotel's convenience to the shops and asked if that was accurate. I was assured on the phone that yes there ARE many shops and eateries withing mins walk BUT nothing was mentioned to us about the fact that shops and eateries would be CLOSED on the day of our stay - Sunday!!!! That's right! YAKIMA is CLOSED ON SUNDAY! We were able to eat dinner at the Olive Garden but we have an Olive Garden near our home in Seattle area. We had stayed the extra night in the area in hopes of local flavor but only got a cold empty town which is something we should have been told during the booking process since I said that was specifically THE REASON reason for our stay that day. Walking outside the door on a Sunday felt like entering a ghost town. When we discovered this at check in we really almost left and went home instead fo staying that night. In retrospect I wished we had just gone home.
There was an adjacent room to ours with a door between the rooms. That room had a light on and the light from that room came through the door crack all night! There was nothing we could do about that :-(
LEAVING THE HOTEL - When we headed down the elevator from the 3rd floor room with our luggage then walked across the dining area to the next elevator for the garage we discovered that elevator was 'temporarily unavailable'!!! Since at this point you are no where near the desk (although the front desk attendant saw us come off the 1st elevator with our luggage but did not mention the garage elevator problem) our only option was now for us to take all our luggage down the stairs ourselves. I am not so young and this is NOT what I would have expected from a Hilton Hotel. FYI Hilton - from the garage level there was not even a sign placed there to notify people coming in that they could stand in front of that elevator all they wanted but no elevator was coming for them since on the 1st level the door was open with a big fan in it!
Hopefully some of the comments will make someone else's stay here better than ours was. But seriously - don't choose this hotel for a Sunday vacation day unless you plan to be gone all that day somewhere else anyway.

Room Tip: Tourists - DON'T Stay HERE on a SUNDAY if you are vacationing and hope to be in the thick of win...

It's all about the STAFF at this hotel. The hotel itself is very clean, great location in town. We sent three young teams to stay for a volleyball tournament. The staff, from the front desk manager to the waiter at breakfast, were all incredibly helpful, kind and courteous. The set up with the sales manager was smooth from the start. But the best part was that the staff that weekend couldn't have been more kind and helpful to our parents and players. Terrific experience for players and parents alike.

There was a large contincency of Little League younsters who were staying at the hotel. Be carefule to make sure that you ask about something like this before booking your room. Try to stay on a higher floor than where they are staying!

Room Tip: Always ask for a room 'away from Yakima Ave'! It can be noisy on that side of the hotel.

Thank you for sharing your experience during your visit to Yakima. It is a very exciting time of year when sports teams are competing in our beautiful city. I am very sorry that this did interrupt your stay and appreciate you sharing your suggestions with other travelers to the area. It is unfortunate that your wife became ill during this visit. We do hope that she feels better and that you will both be back again when visiting Yakima.
