We just returned from our second trip to the Inn. Sandy Kaufman, her partner, and staff provide cottage charm on a hill overlooking the historic town of Bath, WV and the Historical State Park of Berkeley Springs. Breakfasts are wholesome, delicious, and served with a personal touch: fresh herbs from the garden, special blends of jams, local produce, tasty recipes---- combinations that wakened us with flavor and aromas and filled us until lunch!
(A caution about aromas: If you are sensitive to potpourri and perfume fragrances, let Sandy know. Each room and common space is filled with electronic and herbal scents. My husband suffered an asthma attack because I forgot to request that accommodation.)
At the end of each morning meal, we returned to find our room straightened. Rooms are mostly comfortable, prices reasonable (compared to a motel room at $85/night with no breakfast or front porch swing). If our time was flexible, Sandy provided suggestions for passing it. Friendlier than any tuxedoed concierge, Sandy makes reservations for spas and suppers, requesting a massage from the professional with just the "right touch," or the perfect table to watch the sun set over a mountaintop.
Sandy's dining room attendants, this year a rising HS junior who lives on the mountain, have captivated us with charm, service, courtesy, and loveliness. Kudos to Sandy, (Elizabeth, Chastity, and the rest of the staff) for transforming us into civil, serene, and relaxed folks, healthier in mind and spirit.
