We stayed in a modern cabin which was very nice. Being able to cook all our own meals made it more affordable. It was a bit too cold for swimming but we hiked, tried the paddle boating and the shooting. The shooting was really fun with a great instructor. The hiking was pretty, especially along the ridge above the park.

Some of our friends stayed in the north fork cabins. They were very scenic and private but they had some problems with mice and the kitchen was not as nice.

For over 30 years our family has visited Cacapon State Park for our family reunions. Each family members rents either a 4-bedroom cabin or stays in the lodge. The cabins are air-conditioned and have a full kitchen and one bathroom. Linens, trash bags, kitchen utensils and a television are supplied by the resort. They even provide firewood should one want to build a fire and have a grill for grilling outside. Some of the cabins are pet friendly.

The amenities are plenty. For example, horseback riding, skeet shooting, a lake with a beach and snack bar, paddle boating and kayaks, a beautiful golf course, hiking and bike trails, ball fields, nature and recreation programs, tennis, picnic areas with grills, table and bathroom facilities, and fishing (license required and available at the resort). The lodge has a restaurant, gift shop and rooms for parties or family gatherings.

Probably the closest way to "hit the beach" in this part of West Virginia! The park was very nice, and the lake w/ the sandy beach was a surprise for us. We didn't rent a paddleboat while we were there, but it definitely seemed like it would be fun to do.

We enjoyed looking at the stuffed animals and historical information in the Nature Center. We went on multiple hiking trails with varying degrees of difficulty, we attended some activities sponsored by the naturalists. This is a great park.

We found the park to beautiful. There is a beach area that provided fun for our girls although it could have been cleaner. The play area was nice but crowded.
Our issue was with our cabin. It was small with one bedroom and a loft area accessed by a wall ladder. Too dangerous for our young children. The cabin was dirty and bug filled. My wife had an allergy reaction to something in the cabin. We requested to be moved. They relocated us to the lodge. It was clean but needs an update out of the 70's.
