“A truly grand old building, loaded with marble walls and columns.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 March 2011

We were surprised that we could walk right into this building and more surprised still that we didn't see a living soul in there as we explored it. We did not try any offices of course, but stayed in the grand rotunda and major hallways.

Looking straight up into the fantastic dome is amazing. It's beautiful. And you are surrounded by marble everywhere. Gorgeous.

Standing outside the building, there's a majestic entrance with lots of steps. Look up to the top of the dome from outside and see all the gold that was used in decorating the top. Amazing when the sun is glinting off of it.

Also, the grounds are quite beautiful, with grass all over and lots of flowers.
Worth going to if you're visiting Charleston or even just passing though. Probably not recommended for young children, however. They wouldn't enjoy it and parents will be too distracted to enjoy the building.
