“A taste of culture”
Reviewed 30 April 2013

This is a local owned bookstore on Capitol Street in the heart of Charleston. They carry all kinds of books, have a gallery and great little cafe. Also live music on the weekends. If looking for something local, check here first.

“Great selection bookstore and cafe!”
Reviewed 12 April 2013

This independent bookstore is right next to an ice cream shop and pizza place. It's a perfect place to wander for an afternoon. The selection was really good and the whole interior of the shop was charming.

“Best Scones in the area!!”
Reviewed 11 February 2013

Taylor Books is a great locally-owned cafe and bookstore in the heart of downtown Charleston. The atmosphere is casual and very pleasant and the coffees and teas offered by the cafe inside are very good. Their espresso specialty drinks are, for the greatest part, very consistent and tasty. The scones and muffins offered for sale in the morning are absolutely wonderful - the best that Charleston has to offer. Area parking is limited and is mostly street metered parking. We are locals to the area and highly recommend this place to travelers, visitors and anyone passing through as a great hang-out if you are looking for a place to go for awhile in Charleston with good seating and wi-fi availability.

“Love this place”
Reviewed 31 January 2013 via mobile

Love to visit on a weekend and buy some magazines, coffee and people watch. Cool setting-you get a Mom & Pop feel here. Huge selections and if they don't have it, they'll order it and call you within days upon the arrival. Sometimes it's a little pricy. However, it is a local store and you are willing to pay for the relaxed feel and service. They also offer pottery and other art classes. Great place!

“A must visit.”
Reviewed 17 January 2013

This is a very unique shop with great art and books. There is music there sometimes and I've never been able to go, but I'm sure it is great, too.
