“An eatery, a bookstore, an art gallery, or a top coffee shop”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2014

In morning...get your favorite latte, express or coffee with a homemade scone. In the afternoon, after lunch, when you have been trying to stay awake...get your favorite latte, expresso or coffee. On fri and or sat evenings, hang around with other old hippies, young hippies, minimalists, or whomever you choose to go with to listen to local vocals music, have a glass of wine, stroll thru the gallery, be a page turner. Typically a Mellon, kind atmosphere.

“A Place To Start and Finish The Day”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 April 2014

I start almost every weekday with friends having coffee and a scone or muffin at Taylor Books. It is a wonderful place to kill some time and have a great cup of coffee.
They actually have some interesting weekend events and a pretty darn good wine selection and there own make of draft beer.

“Cool bookstore with local artisan gallery, coffee bar, wine and beer, salads/pastry, and evening entertainment.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 March 2014 via mobile

Stopped by and had a glass of wine and beer while we waited for a table at a nearby restaurant. Really cool place. Good selection of books. Negative everyone working there has a snotty attitude-didn't care for that. Would go again and just ignore the attitudes.

“Great Local Book Store”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 October 2013

This bookshop is located on a picture perfect street that reminds you of something in a movie. This is a great locally owned bookshop that offers a wonderful variety of books and beautiful art by local artists. You could easily spend at least two hours in this shop!

“Chill Out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 October 2013 credit card Amex Cardmember Review

I try to go to Taylor Books at least once a week. The place is wonderful, and it is so rare to be able to visit a local bookstore in the 21st Century. You forget what it is like to just browse books - and this place is cozy, has great coffee (and wine at night) and an art gallery attached. It is a creature comfort in Charleston's downtown, and is really worth frequent visits. The only downside is that parking is a bit of a pain - but if you are willing to walk a block or two (a surprising rarity in Charleston - due to a large number of panhandlers and other inconveniences) you will be well rewarded with a wonderful bookstore visit. Don't fail to check out the sale and remainder books in the rear of the store.
