Owner description: Opened in the summer of 2003, the Clay Center strives to present a variety of arts and sciences all under one roof. The Avampato Discovery Museum is two floors of fascinating interactive science exhibits, while the ElectricSky™ Theater features planetarium shows. In addition there are a large performance hall and a small black-box theater, an art museum, a fun museum shop, and a cafe. There's something interesting scheduled virtually every night here!

We have visited multiple times with school groups. The kids don't seem to mind revisiting same exhibits, but a little tiring for parents. Nice theatre with movies changing frequently. Lots of special activities for kids throughout year. Younger children and pre school ages would like the exhibits more than older children.

Have been to the main auditorium at least 50 times. Great variety of live performances- from the Pointer Sisters to Harlem Boys Choir to kathy Griffin and so on. Known for its superior acoustics, the clay center offers most everyone some thing. Can be a bit pricey, but it is wv and the performers need some incentive to stop in.

Very interactive, love the water features. Changing exhibits, so it's fun to go to more than once. Great place for kids.

I have been to the Clay Center for multiple different things. The Kids Museum is nice lots of hand on and fun things to do. The Main auditorium is nice clean, easy to navigate, and seat are comfortable. The only down fall to the whole place is its size. I really wish it was bigger. The kids museum you can be completely done with in about 2 hours and thats stretching it. The stage in the auditorium is so small its almost not worth paying the prices to see any show here. It's kind of a take it or leave it place for me.

The Clay Center is a wonderful venue for the arts in Charleston. The seating in the main auditorium is very comfortable and the acoustics is excellent. A good variety of performances are held there throughout the year. The Electricsky and sciences galleries will delight the children.
