The only time you can walk on the bridge. Look over to the colorful canyon below. You will see a bountiful array of color. Get there early and watch the fog raised. You have B.A.S.E. jumpers and repellers going over the bridge. Zip line. Bridge walk and array of vendors, some with the best grilled corn on the cob ever made. Visit the web side or down the app.

We spent a day around the Fayetteville area, and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. We hiked the Long Point Trail, a fairly easy hike (a little hilly with natural paths) through forest to a rocky point with a great view to the New River Gorge bridge. We also drove down one-lane Highway 16 to cross on the old Fayette Station bridge; you can pick up the road at the Canyon Rim Visitor Center. This road descends into the gorge under the bridge. After you cross the old bridge, you can park and watch the rapids and rafters on the river. We had excellent pizza and craft beer in town at Pies and Pints in Fayetteville, a town I'd like to explore more. We've spent time at the area state parks, and have biked the New River trails in Virginia, but this was our first time at the Gorge in West Virginia. We will return again with bikes and river shoes!

Everything was incredible. I took a hike of one of the nature trails and saw gorgeous water falls and lots of lovely scenery. This is a must do for anyone that's visiting the area.

Stop at the Visitors Center and walk down to the viewing area. Look up at the bridge and down into the gorge. Absolutely beautiful and a must see.

We came in for the afternoon so only was able to take in one trail. The ranger at the visitor's center recommended the Long Point Trail. It passes thru field and forest on the way to a beautiful vista overlooking the bridge and gorge. It was a moderate level trail with a few steep-ish sections but there weren't any problem.

To get to the trailhead: From US 19, follow WV16 south through the town of Fayetteville. Turn left on Gatewood Road (sign indicates Kaymoor and Cunard). Follow Gatewood Road for 1.9 miles, and turn left on Newton Road. The trailhead parking area is 50 yards on the left.
