“Great Rail to Trail”
Reviewed 14 July 2014

Beautiful scenery! Easy ride. Very level. Rented bikes because our road bikes don't work well on crushed gravel. Shuttle services available locally if you only want to ride one way.

“More deer than people”
Reviewed 13 July 2014

Very nice rails trail. See very few people, even on July weekend. Bring your own food and water as drinking water along the trail is unavailable. Only a couple of towns along the entire length so plan accordingly. Trail very well maintained. Saw deer, coyote, many birds, and a few snakes. We stayed in Seebert which made for a good central location to ride both north and south. Bring a camera as the scenery is georgeous!

Great level riding with many places to jump off the bike for a photo shot or to take swim in the Greenbriar River

“Quiet and relaxing”
Reviewed 31 May 2014

For a holiday weekend, this trail is not heavily populated. Maybe because it is in a rural area. Most of the trail is gravel except for 5 miles in/out of Marlinton which is asphalt. Nice views of the river and shady in spots which helps if it is hot outside.

“Always love a bike ride on a great path.”
Reviewed 26 May 2014

A rails-to-trails path, it was well worth waiting until the rain stopped. We rode north towards the train tunnel from Marlinton and the path was fairly flat with a slight incline. Although it had rained "cats and dogs" earlier in the day, the path was mostly dry with some puddles. It was a given that we would have mud streaks up our back after the ride. We saw herds of deer and a few bunnies as we rode along the tree lined path. Old homesteads with dilapidated buildings had us stop and look. Most of the property along side the trail is still private, so heed signs. There was one vault toilet on our root as well as a couple shelters and picnic tables. When approaching the train tunnel it appears very spooky. I suggest that you have a flash light or head light on you bicycle to get through it without being freaked out.
