A week in the Cotswolds, is what we wanted. My wife and our daughter with her two sons came with us. Mid week, our other daughter came to visit with her two daughters. How wonderful it was for them to run free without worrying about any dangers. All footpaths are mown and very safe. These cottages are a real find, even though there are 5 cottages plus the owners, you will only have a few people around at any one time. The farm has been transformed into a walkers paradise for trees, plants, butterflies, buzzards even soaring high in the sky, you will see one in a picture later. 70 acres. If you can read the info in the picture of Walnut Cottage, you will have more info. Plenty of space, never had so much, you feel like you're the only people around. The grounds are exceptionally well maintained. The owners very very friendly and helpful. Our time was spent just relaxing, walking, playing and just chilling out. Can't find any criticism at all. If you just want peace and tranquility, then book in, you will not be disappointed. Thank you Heath Farm.
My wife and I, together with my in laws have just returned from 4 fantastic day stay in Cobnut House.
Like previous reviews have said this is a quant collection of converted farm buildings that are now places to stay. The Farm is situated approx 10 mins from Banbury and can be found by the two white stones at the entrance.
The accommadation is around the back of the farms house and Cobnut over looks the fields behind and s great for seeing the sun set in the evening.
The interior is well equip and is very well done and good quality too. Some of the most popular villages are close by and easily reached within 25mins...Stow on the Wold and Bourton on the Water(Little Venice).
We would certainly recommend anyone to stay here.
When we arrived rooms were perfectly clean and the logs in the hearth already arranged. If we needed more wood, we could just get some around the corner. The farm lies directly off the road at the edge of a hill. It is an old farm complex that has been converted to separate rooms all with their own identity. We were in 'walnut' with a very high ceiling, large bathroom and two large bedrooms in the attic. A separate kitchen which came really amply equipped, including coffee and salt. Because it was all panelled we had a really medieval feel when staying there. Every morning the sun shone in through the great window, giving great views of the surrounding hill. Our hosts were friendly and the place immaculately clean. One of the best houses we've ever been in (and we've been to a few!). Farm grounds are good for an evening stroll and the kids enjoyed the trampoline. Some good country pubs are close by. Oxford is 30 min by car. Chipping Norton 10 min. We recommend also seeing Great Tew which is around the corner.
We spent two enjoyable weeks in the Beachnut cottage. The cottage is well appointed and very comfortable. We had everything we needed and were snug as a bud in a rug as the saying goes. If you are looking for a relaxing, quiet and comfortable place to stay, this is it. It is very close to a number of National Trust properties.
We stayed in Hazelnut for a 4 day mid week break and found our cottage perfect. It was a great size for just the 2 of us and in a great location to access other near by villages.
The grounds are lovely and perfect to come back to with an open fire burning.
We would come back again.
This is an exceptional place to stay. Turn off the busy road running between Chipping Norton and Banbury, between the two white stones that mark the entrance, and you enter another world: somewhere in Southern Europe, perhaps, and in another, calmer era. We stayed for a fortnight while working on a house nearby, and nothing could have been more restful than coming back to the serene and beautiful space of Walnut. We took the liberty of having people to supper in order to show off the sensational space; we only lacked musicians for the gallery. We would be back like a shot but alas no longer have the excuse.
We booked this place as a peaceful break in a lovely setting not to far from West Hertfordshire and our niece in Oxford. Not only were we not disappointed but I would recommend Beechnut Cottage 101%. The rooms were delightful and well fitted out and equipped and very tasteful, Outside our cottage was a lovely water feature with goldfish and carp and outside our bedroom window we could see a lovely pasture with sheep and geese wandered up from nearby pond which you could walk to. There is a choice of about 4 nearby pubs and loads of interesting old houses and gardens-take your National Trust Card-you Brits. The property is laid back from road but well signposted and is easy to find from M40 motorway. Nearby town of Chipping Norton with its Sainsburys supermarket and WH Smith for newspapers is 10 mins by car. By the way TV and internet reception is perfect and we loved the shower wet room.
