“Great atmosphere!”
Reviewed 1 May 2014

Sloshing through flooded downtown streets following a significant storm, we were actually headed someplace else, but the word "brewing" caught our eye and we stumbled in. A Friday night, a big ball game, and a welcome to match! The place was busy, so we took a seat at the bar, feeling right at home beside faculty and students from WVU. The friendly bartender offered cute little tasting glasses and a welcoming smile. The "Eighty Shilling" was an excellent choice for him, as was the Alpha Blonde for her. Following the example of the couple beside us we ordered the beer fries as we waited for a table: more-ish! Called to our table, we ordered a "beefalo burger".The best thing was that we found we had stumbled into Auction Night! All manner of - presumably- donated items such as Patagonia clothing were up for grabs, and the selling, led by a real live auctioneer who appeared to know everyone there, was fast and enthralling, with a "green" agenda to the fundraising. There was a genuine community feeling here, and after a long drive we found ourselves energized and involved. It's what our daughter in the Highlands of Scotland would call "good craic"!

“Great food and beer.”
Reviewed 26 April 2014

Been here several times visiting our daughter at WVU. Food is always good, beer is always cold, service is consistent. If you like unique tacos, get the braised tongue tacos, they are very good. and if you cant decide which beer to get from their on site brewery, get the sampler of 10 different ones...

“Good food, Okay Beer.”
Reviewed 17 April 2014

I liked the food more than the beer. They brew quite a few different styles more than most brewpubs. Unfortunately they seem to all be "middle of the road" as far as flavor goes.

The darker beers suffered more than the light ones. They just felt watered down and lacking in flavor. They need more roasted malt to infuse some character. The light beers ranged from a close to water "lite" style to a mildly hopped IPA.

Still, it was a good visit and I'd return again. Service was good, food was great! I'd probably try another local brewery first though to see if the beer is any different.

“Brewery is a win ... service ... not so much, unless your server is MJ!”
Reviewed 3 April 2014

We are from Oregon, where Brewery's were born and raised, and Morgantown Brewery is definitely one of the up and coming... but is it there yet ... no.

The bartender was snobbish at best, and if you were not part of her "in crowd" - you were NOT in... however our waitress on the other hand, MJ was amazing! Thank you MJ for making us feel welcome, part of the group, and assisting us with our lunch, beverages and our $60. purchase of souvenirs. You were patient with us while we poked through all the treasures we are taking home to friends and family.

First of all, the establishment is in an older warehouse section of Morgantown, with a rustic, and fun feel to it. The whole place is so clean you could eat off of the floors, and the brewing section was even cleaner then that, with hand washing station, and we saw the brew master washing down the floors while we were there! Outstanding in my opinion! Thank you for taking the time to make this one of the cleanest places we visited while on vacation!

We had the mozzarella sticks with marinara, and these sticks are to die for, and the marinara was the best I've ever had! Then we shared the pork with sourkraut, on marbled rye. The pork was tough as shoe leather, and the spicy mustard was way too hot, but the sourkraut and fries were ok. This sandwich was tolerable, and if we were not ravenous, we would have sent it back. The beer was really good - and MJ offered my husband samples so he could decide. The choice of beers was excellent, and indicated alcohol content and good description of flavor. Bill really enjoyed his beer! Glad we stopped by!
