We stayed one night here on a recent family vacation. The area in the Gorge and especially the bridge are well worth visiting, but the hotel is just average. This location is in serious need of an upgrade, especially the carpeting. The pool was shallow (3 ft all around) and felt somewhat unclean, but the hot tub was great.

We also had the same restaurant experience as another reviewer, with one frazzled waitress serving too many customers. Her work was commendable, but the food, like the rest of the stay, was just average. The most positive experiences we had, in general, were the interactions with the staff.

Fortunately, I had used my rewards points for the night, but if I had paid over $100 for the room, there must be better alternatives elsewhere.

It was getting dark and after 13 hours of driving we stumbled upon this hotel. The staff was excellent. The rate was good, the rooms clean, comfortable. We arrived at 8pm, and the restaurant had 1 cook and 1 waitress only, but they did an outstanding job of service and cooking, food good, prices are great. The pool was nice, but the cholrine does travel even to some parts of the lobby. They have a wall tv with comfortable couhces in the lobby and 1 computer with free internet access. Overall the staff made the hotel, check in, to the restaurant staff truly superior.

Stayed here recently because it was close to Ace Adventure where we were white water rafting. The only positive thing at this location was the staff. They were friendly. In our first room there was hair in the shower and the carpet felt wet and when we picked up one of our overnight bags up from the floor the entire bottom of the bag was soaked! It wasn't even on the floor very long! We asked to be moved and we had a room on the second floor. This carpet felt a bit damp but we were stuck. The room was felt very damp and smelled musty.
The pictures of the pool on the internet are misleading. Our kids love to swim in the hotel pool, but this one was only 3 feet deep. The internet gives no indication of this. It was not very clean and there were tiles missing or broken in various locations.
If we were to go back to the area I think I would look into a small hotel down the road - I believe it was called the New River Inn. It was small but it looked new.

We booked this hotel (3 days 2 nights) because of it's close proximity to the New River Gorge. We went whitewater rafting with Class VI River Rafters (they were phenomenal) and hiking through the national park.

Unfortunately, our room was located the closest to the swimming pool and the entire room smelled of chlorine! It permeated everything-- the linens, the bedsheets, the air. It was very noticable on the first night (and I thought of asking to switch rooms but husband does not like to make trouble), but the second night was bearable.

The swimming pool and jacuzzi/hot tub looks nice. Didn't get a chance to use it, though. There are also indoor racket courts (rental fee for rackets). No business/conference room that I could find.

We spent less than 7 hours in the room each night, and with the affordable price, I really can't complain! Sure beats camping out in the woods and getting soaked with rain or eaten alive by bugs!

We stayed here on our first white water rafting trip last week. The Holiday Inn here is very nice. The pool and hot tub were clean and spacious. Weight room looked to have an extensive selection of weights and machines of all kinds. There were racket ball courts as well. They even had a hair salon inside the hotel. How convenient. The only negative thing I can say is they don't offer a business center which we've become used to in other Holiday Inns and other hotels of this size. But it was a great sleep and not far from the rafting company "Wildwater Expeditions" for our trip down the river. Would highly recommend if you're in the area.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel when we were rafting the Upper Gauley. The hotel is very nice and the staff were very friendly. There is a pool and a hot tub that looked great but we didn't get a chance to use it due to our short stay. Our room was spacious and the hotel is located very close to Extreme Expeditions which is the company who was running our rafting trip.

Husband and I stayed here this past weekend while on a trip to the New River Gorge area. Great hotel - super clean (and I am picky), convenient to activities, and great staff. Front desk went out of their way to find answers to some questions I had. Definitely recommend this one!!
