the home on the island is great has a lot of background and history. This site is very historical and shows the historical era. The grounds are well kept, and it makes a great family trip, there has lots of variety.

We traveled her with our family of 4 (2
Children ages 3 and 1) and we had a great time. The ferry ride over was really pleasant and took about 20 minutes and they even let you take a turn at the wheel!
We toured the mansion which didn’t take very long and it was really interesting... but we really enjoyed the covered carriage ride through the island... the horses were so sweet and the tour guide was pretty knowledgeable so it felt like an extended part of the tour. The gift shop was great we picked up some items before heading back onto the ferry. We would recommend going here, but first checking out the museum in Parkersburg so you have some insight on the island and history. I’m sure we will be back another time as we really did enjoy ourselves

I’ve been to the Island so many times I️ can’t count. I’ve taken friends and family as well as hundreds of student. Take the stern wheeler over to the island. Tour the mansion, hop on the wagon ride and walk around the island soaking up all it’s fine history. There’s both a gift shop and snack stand you can also cost. Don’t firget to check out the museum when you get back to Parkersburg.

This is a must for anyone visiting the Ohio Valley. The island is located between Parkersburg WV and Belpre Ohio

In October the entire island is lit up with lanterns and bon fires. The mansion is populated with living historians dressed in the late 1700 apparel.

We did the mansion tour and the horse wagon ride at night and enjoyed signing by the bon fire.

We went to the Candle Light evening special that was offered. My husband and I had never been to the Island. We were taken to and from the Island by sternwheeler. It was a beautiful night. We had purchased the catered dinner with our package. Upon arriving, we had dinner which was pulled pork, cole slaw, green beans, potatoes, rolls, pie, and iced tea. It was delicious!!!! After dinner we went on a covered wagon ride drawn by 3 horses which took about 20 minutes. Our driver told us about the horses, explained the story of the Blennerhasset Family, told us about the various buildings and the many trees on the Island. We saw many deer during our wagon ride. I think the wagon ride was the highlight of our evening!! Upon arriving and throughout the night, our walkways were lit by candles. There were small fires also lighting our way. It was a beautiful sight. There was singing and dancing from the 1800's. A story teller was talking about the ghost sightings on the Island. We went through the gift shop, which was very reasonable. We bought a book about the history of the Island for only $5.00 and a nice coffee mug for $8.50. Our last stop was our tour of the Blennerhasset House. It was a beautiful re-creation of the original mansion that was lost in a fire. Everyone on the Island was dressed in period costumes. They were very knowledgeable and answered any questions we had. We had an AMAZING time. We would HIGHLY recommend a trip to Blennerhasset Island State Park, especially when they offer the Candlelight Trip.
