We were staying in Charles Town but none of the restaurants appealed to us. We found the Bavarian Inn on Trip Advisor and decided to try it. What a beautiful place. Our meals were outstanding. I tried the antelope medallions which were very tender and delicious. They had a number of selections that were different from regular restaurant food. The desert was also great. I would return to try pheasant or one of the other interesting sounding entrees. Well worth the 20 min trip from Charles Town and priced reasonably. Just keep in mind that no shorts are allowed in the dining room after 5PM.

I don't know why “Dining Room” is included in the title of this restaurant The Trip Advisor search function didn't work well.

My husband and I took a German guest there on Saturday after visiting Harper's Ferry. It was late for lunch and early for dinner. We were in shorts so knew we wouldn't go to the main dining room but hoped the Rathskeller would be open. It wasn't quite yet but the maitré d said they would accommodate us. He told us the outdoor patio was open and since it was so nice out, we tried it out— a wonderful setting with umbrellas and a great view. The Inn's chalets are themselves pleasant to look at.
I hesitated to take a German to a German restaurant but he was delighted with it. We shared an order that had the four-types of cold salad: rutabaga, cucumber with dill, potato, and beet root with apple citrus. The waiter was quite helpful with the beer selection. The Jaeger Schnitzel was delicious with a brown Hunter's sauce. Our guest ordered the breaded Wiener Schnitzel,; my husband had Roast Pork served with sauerkraut and a potato dumpling, The dishes were served with red cabbage and speatzle. The only disappointment was the bread: Pumpernickel and rye. While they tasted fine; they were just thin slices from loaves. The waiter was attentive without being overbearing.
The dessert tray was extremely appetizing, if you should have any room left. I had the apple strudel with a very generous scoop of ice cream—my favorite German dessert. Our guest tried the raspberry Linzer tort with whipped cream. Again a small flaw—no Expresso but the coffee was excellent. This was an thoroughly enjoyable visit on a lovely day.

We liked the availability of a reservation. We could get seating pretty much any time. The staff were all very professional and pleasant. They were very helpful in making some recommendations. The waitress heard us discussing having theater tickets and helped us to complete service on time. She also willingly split a dessert for two of us and consistently was conscious of the dietary restrictions of one of us. The food was average and probably a littleoverpriced.

I had lunch at the pool and breakfast on the patio. The menu was interesting and the food was delicious. The homemade biscuits at breakfast were a 10. The pool has a good selection of beers to choose from and from the looks of it people were loving their specialty cocktails. Only thing better would be a swim up bar!
