“Great location!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 February 2014

We stayed here two nights for a family ski-trip. The location is absolutely PERFECT! Ski right out the door and onto the slopes. If you need to rent ski's or equipment, the ski rentals are right downstairs. Very close and convenience to Shavers Center as well as the Village. The room was warm and clean and the beds were comfortable. No complaints at all.

We were upgraded to this building on a reservation fault by Snowshoe. The place was amazing! What a location! Straight out to the slopes and great parking. The unit we stayed in had a queen size bed and a fold out couch. It has enough space for two people. The bathroom is very nice and spacious too. We had a kitchenette with a mini fridge microwave oven coffee make two burner stove. They provided all cooking and eating utensils with extra paper towels. The view is beautiful too we were in a slope side unit. There is a little gym and a great ski locker room that takes you right out to the slopes. Yes they will be making snow and grooming but it is not all night and they do provide ear plugs. I will stay here again!

We stayed in a two bedroom condo at Expedition Station for a week. You can't beat this location. We were in the corner condo with views of the slopes and the skii school. We were able to watch our son at the skii school from our window. The condo was really nice and modern with a full kitchen. The Expedition Rental is on the first floor in the same building, very convenient. The lockers are at the back of the building, right next to the slopes. Skii-in, skii-out. You don't waste any time to get to the slopes. There are just a couple of things that I did not like. First, the maid service was more than basic, they just made the beds. Second, the parking lot is tiny, you will probably end up walking to the bigger parking lot. Third, the grooming of the snow starts really early in the morning, around 6 am so, be prepare to wake up early due to the noise of the grooming machiches. If you don't mind the little negatives, this is the perfect spot. We did not mind so, it was perfect for us.
It you stay at Expedition Station, you have also access to the pool that is at a short walk at the other side of the village. The pool is lovely and the jacuzzi's even better.

Room Tip: If you don't want to hear the snow grooming machines early in the morning, pick the rooms opposi...

Parking is great if you can get in the small lot for the property otherwise you have a bit of a walk which can suck in the Winter. The lockers were super convenient! The room was much nicer than I expected. Queen platform bed was comfie....had a sofa (with pullout) and a nice flatscreen tv. All we needed for a 3 night getaway to snowboard! We requested a quiet room per other reviews and slept well! Property has a super location...strap on your board and head down the mountain just yards away! Be sure to stop and get groceries BEFORE you get close to Snowshoe. Regretfully we passed a Food Lion on the way up. Selection and prices are not satisfactory. Anyway, there are dishes and pots, etc so you can cook. Small fridge and coffee maker and they even supply coffee filters. Would def stay here again!

We stayed at expedition station one night in the mid-week around new years. The room was nice and clean. Nothing special, but you go here to ski, not to hang out in the room. There was a nice kitchenette which would be convienient for longer stays. Bed was comfortable. The ski lockers are a great bonus, and being right on the slope and very close to lots of restaurants couldn't have been better. A long walk to a hot tub, which is not ideal when its 10 F on top of the mountain.

Biggest issue is that the walls and ceilings are pretty thin. We were lucky and the group above us that was pretty loud settled down early. However, if you are in a room with a party nearby, expect to hear them all night.

This was a great choice for my husband and I spending a weekend skiing in Snowshoe. Its Ski in/ski out so very conveniently located! Good location in the Village for dinner and entertainment. There is a free shuttle that takes you to other areas of the mountain.

Room - very clean, all the necessary amenties include a small kitchenette and fridge. Comes with dishes and and everything you would need to save a buck by cooking for yourself. (Bring food from home as the little store is a bit $$). Bathroom was good sized and clean, had a hairdryer and toiletries. We had heard the beds were uncomfortable so we brought our own pillows but we both slept well. The first night they were doing lots of snowcat grooming and our room faced the mountain (great view!) so I would recommend earplugs if you are a light sleeper!

Overall a great choice, very reasonably priced with everything we could have needed for our trip!

Our 2nd stay at Expedition Station and from a couple people who head to Snowshoe strictly for snow, this place is probably the best value. It's clean, and as said in other reviews - directly on the slope. Stayed in several other private home rentals, and the hike back to the house in boots is a workout in itself sometimes. Everything you need - slopes, food, bus stop, store, sales office is steps away. Wouldn't worry too much about the outdoor noise for rooms facing the slopes - if it's not the outdoor noise, you will definetly hear everyone stomping thru the hallways in their skiboots. The food is not that bad either - the Pizza place and BBQ place within the village are leaps and bounds better than greasy dry chicken fingers you'd normally find at ski resorts. If you desire the gorgeous lobby with hearth, hottubs, internet surfing, hotel staff running about, and all the other amenities (that come with cost)... there are plenty of those at Snowshoe. If you're on a college budget and don't mind sleeping on a bed from the 80s, they have that too... Expedition Station is somewhere in the middle :)
