“Great views, very comfortable, classic lodge styling!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2014

We just stayed for a weekend with family at Snowshoe, and this was the resort lodging they chose. I have been to ski lodges all over the U.S., and I thought the accommodations at Highland House and Snowshoe in general were fantastic. We had a three-bedroom, two-bedroom condo with a patio and beautiful view of the mountains. The rooms were spotless and well-decorated in classic lodge furniture and decor; the sofa-bed that my son stayed on was more like a regular bed in terms of size and comfort. The master suite was really beautiful, with a separate tub and glass shower combo (nice touch). It only took a minute to walk from the property to a lift taking you down to the dock and pier for boating or bike trails, and Highland's lobby leads right out into the little mountaintop village, with its restaurants, Starbucks, and shops. Great time, and we plan to go back soon! Highland will be our lodging pick.

Room Tip: Make sure to ask what your room view will be -- the mountains are fabulous, and we preferred the vie...

These units couldn't be better for accessing the slopes and Snowshoe village. That said, every unit is a little different and they are getting a little dated. Some are better kept than others. Wifi service is also a little spotty - if the owner makes it available. All in all - a nice weekend given that the snow was awesome and entertain great.

We ended up at the Highland House because the room we were checked into at Expedition Station had not been cleaned from the previous guests when we checked into it. I was very disappointed after driving for 15 hours to get there. However, they redeemed themselves by moving us to a one bedroom condo at Highland House. We had a view of the slopes, and a balcony. The room is very cozy, and has a gas fireplace to give you additional warmth. We were happy about that since it snowed every day we were there. The room had a full kitchen with all of the necessary cooking utensils. It also had a dining room table that seats six, and a pull out sofa bed. It's right at the top of the slopes, so you grab your skis from your locker downstairs and you're all set to go in the morning. Highland House is right in the middle of Snowshoe Village, convenient to all of the shops, restaurants, and Starbucks. It's very affordable, and a great place for Spring Break skiing/snowboarding!

We stayed at Highland House for 3 nights during the kid's Spring Break - we were in room #407(nice vaulted ceiling too!). You can't beat the convenience of skiing (or snowboarding) right out the front (or is it back) door! Free lockers did store 2 sets of skis and 2 snowboards pretty snugly. The gas fireplace in the room helped to dry out gloves and neck warming accessories! The roof top hot tub was pretty bit and hot! Pretty cool to sit in it, be hot, and have it snowing on you the same time!
You can also access the the larger indoor/outdoor pool area and then there was another kid's play area a short walk from the Highlands.
Many shops and restaurants conveniently located but of course pricey. We cooked in our room quite a bit.
Overall, great experience, great service, and we would definitely stay here again!

Family & friends traveled to Snowshoe for OAR concert and a little skiing. The resort was completely sold out and we were 2 hours delayed getting into our condo. The "internationals" the resort hires for cleaning VISAs were up and they did not have enough help. The staff tried to accommodate us and gave us a dining voucher which was nice and we used it. Anna who worked at the front desk of Allegheny Springs was most accommodating. She allowed us to put our perishable groceries in the refrigerator of the condo so they would not spoil. (I awarded her with a TA pin that I was given to those who provide me with excellent service.) The condo was typical ski in ski out type. Stains on walls, OLD tube tv, beds lumpy & bumpy and mediocre kitchen stuff. Who can blame the owners as people as the condos take a lot of wear and tear.

Room Tip: If you go to view skiing get "slope" side view or if you want to see a concert, then make...

We stayed in a studio with one bed, a couch, a kitchenette and a gas fireplace. The room was not very large but was fine for two people. The bathroom was roomy enough with lots of hooks for hanging towels, etc. The gas fireplace and a view of the village were the icing on the cake. The room was very clean and there was access to loading and parking via an underground hallway.

When you go to Snowshoe, you go to ski so the room may not be all that important. But check in at 5 when the slopes close at 4:30 and only one maid team in the building is a little silly. The rooms are small and your not going to sleep well but you have a nice kitchen and sitting area. And the location is great...right on the slopes.
