Owner description: Visit the Museum of American Glass in West Virginia to see a huge collection of brilliant colored and sparkling crystal glass by dozens of American manufacturers from 1860 to the present. We currently have around 20,000 items on display, including the 2nd largest collection of Steuben art glass in the world, the National Marble Museum, and our Lady Jane stained glass doll house. We have a self guided tour available, and a research library with over 1,500 books. Please call in advance to schedule a guided tour for large groups.

I love glass and was so excited to learn of this magnificent museum. Admission is free and there is plenty of metered street parking (25 cents per hour). We were greeted when we entered and I was overwhelmed with all the collections, the library, the workshop, the marble collection, the gift shop, the storage of duplicates - I could go on and on.

I will return here to spend even more time. I got to speak at length with a nice gentleman about glass, their state collections, other glass museums and other related things. Another guy told us he was a volunteer and took the time to answer questions and show us more things. The gift shop is very unique in that it is FULL of used glass items that bring memories and make you smile of things that may be from your past. There are also artist items among the myriad of glass objects in the gift shop.

It is almost overwhelming there are so many things to see here.

Plan to spend at least an hour, if not more.

We had not been to Weston in quite a few years. The little glass museum has grown into a well lit, clean and charming tribute to the glass industry that has been so important to West Virginia. A great research room and gift shop round out the offerings. Be sure to sign up to be a member.

In a recent visit to the area we decided to stop in the museum. We are not into glass but we did walk all through the museum. All the cases were clean and bright. We were amazed at all the places where glass had been made. We even learned of some places that had once been near our hometown area. If you are not passionate about glass I wouldn't make a special trip here. If you are in the area and looking for something to do it was interesting.

We thoroughly enjoyed the museum - brought back some memories too - just filled with glass pieces from all over the United States - also has a marble collection - each piece was grouped with a similar piece from a different manufacture - just so much to see - we are not collectors but were in awe of some many pieces and nicely displayed too
