We spend a weekend time in this romantic place in Baileys Harbor.Very impressed with mix of old and new interior in the room. You feel like age ago but in the same time you have a Jacuzzi and cable TV. Having breakfast(homemade muffins) on the shore was in the early morning was very nice.Hospitality is a high level there.friendly and nice owners.

This beautiful location with a great lake view and a lot antiques touch makes you feel very relax and confortable. The details that they added in our room because of our celebration was a great unexpected gift from the inkeepers. The perfect location gave us the opportunity to walk the area, sit and relax in front of the lake and enjoy the great food from the restaurants and Pubs. We also went around the Peninsula and explored the towns. We are planning our next trip to stay in this great place.

My husband found The Blacksmithh Inn online and we were taken with it immediatly. The only availability was in The Harbour House, we thought we wanted The Zahn House but we took it anyway. We stayed for two nights in the most tranquil and hospitable place we can ever remember being at. We were in rm #15, simply wonderful. Let me start when we first arrived. We were greeted by Bryan, who, like was noted in another review, always had a smile on his face, a great host. We check in at the Zahn Hs, so he took us next door to The Harbour Hs. It was way beyond what we were expecting from the photos. Our room was so comfy and more roomy than we thought it would be. They (Bryan and Joan) didn't leave anything out. We fell in love with the hammock on our deck, in fact, I bought one for my husband for Father's Day! The Inn is very quiet, peaceful is more like it, yet the staff is always one step ahead. I disagree with the review about their breakfast not being up to speed as far as B&B's go. I've stay in lots of them, and Theirs is continental, yes, but with the delicious muffins and granola not to mention the yummy juices they serve, it is all quite upper scale. We're in love with the cherry oatmeal cookies that are out all the time, and the beverages 24-7 is a great touch. There is so much to do with the bikes and kayaks, they even leave beach towels out if you're heading to the water. The pier is great and the view of the lake, breathtaking. We will definetly come back.

Room Tip: The Zahn House 3rd floor has super views of the water and a hammock and adorondak chairs too.

My wife and I stayed in Zahn room #9 in early May. The building is very interesting, and Bryan is a wonderful host (did not meet Joan). A few things for those who stay at many bed and breakfasts: while nice, the continental breakfast is just that...continental. The choices are very nice, but if you're expecting a full or "different" breakfast like at some B&B's, you may be disappointed. Due to how the lobby area is set up, you don't have a chance to meet other guests...again, that's each person's personal preference. We had a great time, but it was different from other places where we've sat down for a full breakfast and gotten to talk to other guests. From that standpoint, it is more like a hotel, albeit a very nice one with history and a great host! The location is very conventient to many interesting things (Lake Michigan, lighthouses, state parks, etc.). Bryan has a great passion for what he does and it definitely shows.

Room Tip: The top floor Zahn house rooms are very nice. The hammock on the deck outside is great!

We stayed here for 2 nights in mid to late May. Great location. Room was very quiet and comfortable. Lake view very nice- hammock was a great place for my morning coffee (which was excellent by the way.). Breakfast was simple but the baked goods were AMAZING!!!! And as other reviewers have said the oatmeal cherry cookies also very good. Free DVD library to borrow from on the honor system. Overall great- would go back!

What a wonderful retreat! Bryan and Joan are perfect hosts. Bryan always had a smile on his face and was very accommodating. We stayed for a few nights in Room#1 in the historic Zahn House. Really liked the room and the location in the building. The Inn is nicely decorated and cozy. The view of the bay is great! Breakfasts are delicious and you can eat on the porch with others, on your private deck or in your room. The "help yourself" to coffee, tea, lemonade, fresh oatmeal cherry cookies and never-ending popcorn is very inviting! Bryan and Joan do a wonderful job of making guests feel welcome and very relaxed!

This is a majestic property and I don't think you could go wrong with a room. We stayed in room 10 in the building adjacent to the main property~these rooms have all wooden floors with radiant heating underneath and larger bathrooms. It was a tough decision as to which room to pick though. The gentleman that greeted us showed us all available rooms so we could switch if we wanted to. The extra touches make the price worth it: an organic flavored tea bar, bottomless cookie jar with oatmeal cherry cookies (DELICIOUS), yummy popcorn set out in the evenings with sweet stoneware bowls, the breakfast was delicious with spiced apple slices, hard boiled eggs, cereals, granola, yogurts, cheeses, etc. Did I mention the super great views? We enjoyed the double whirlpool tub, comfy pillows, and sense of calm and peace. Only thing that was disappointing was that wifi was extremely slow and spotty. I had looked forward to cuddling in my lovely poster bed and searching with my iPad. We were here 10 years ago and it was delightful to wade through their guest registry books and find our comments from long ago.

Room Tip: I don't think you could go wrong...the higher floors have better views of Lake Michigan.

We so appreciated this guest letting us know the wifi had become spotty. We have since upgraded the routers and have resolved the intermittent reception.
