I booked this B&B for a romantic long-weekend in Door County. What I liked from their internet site: Double Whirlpool, Fireplace, sitting area, middle of the penninsula location in Door County, full breakfasts, and balcony off each room.
THE GOOD: The wooded grounds were pretty; you felt like you were in a private sanctuary; yet only minutes from a main highway. The full breakfasts served in the dinning room were delicious. We enjoyed pancakes, baked french toast, baked eggs and cinnamon coffee cake. The innkeepers (a married couple) were masters at conversation, were knowledgable about the area, & seemed to really enjoy their role as hosts. The other guests were enjoyable as well. We truly enjoyed the food and the breakfast experience at this B&B. The New Yardley Inn is THE most centrally located accomodations in Door County. Less than a mile east is known as the central intersection. The room did feature a double whirlpool, fireplace, and sitting area. The innkeepers suggested the Coyote Roadhouse just a bit west for a later dinner our first night. It's more of a local place. We really enjoyed it. If you go, you must have the beans.
THE NOT SO GOOD: The loveseat was uncomfortable. It was covered with an ill-fitting sofa covering. Others' used tissues were found in the creases. The room was freezing when we arrived, even though the innkeeper said he had warmed up the room.
MY PREFERENCES: There is nothing spectacular about the decor. The rooms aren't the "aunties attic" kind of decor. Many people may prefer this new construction home with a minimalist approach to decorating the rooms. A sign on the door out to the balcony & the innkeeper said it was a fire exit only -- do not open the door at all. We were disappointed. We thought we would be able to sit and enjoy the wooded grounds on our private balcony. Although, there was a balcony off the common area which we could have used.
