I stayed here two nights with my two children, aged 13 and 10. On arrival we received a very genuinely warm and friendly welcome from the owners who couldn't do enough for us. The facilities here are top class with a clean and well equipped kitchen, clean toilet and showers , a games room and large dining room as well as a play area for the kids. The Pods were lovely, we stayed in a standard pod which was cosy and comfortable for the 3 of us, any more would have been a squish. Elizabeth brought of beautiful fresh scones in the morning to start the day perfectly.
But facilities etc... are only half the story, Top of thee Rock has a lovely atmosphere you just can't measure. There is a peacefulness and honesty here situated as it is in the heart of the country rich in folklore and history. You'll find no trashy amusement parks or manufactured tourist traps. What you'll get is miles of very beautiful trails along river banks, glens , old mass tracks, close to ruined castles and ancient standing stones with an abundance of flora and wildlife. The kids just loved the walks, the little bridges, the stepping stones, seeing bats flying out of the ruined castle, watching the fish in the streams and then after miles of adventure bedding down exhausted at night in our pod. The kind of magical memories I hope they'll bring with them into adulthood.
