We lived in Menomonie, WI for over 20 years - home of the University of Wisconsin - Stout. Yes - the same Stout that built this lodge. When It opened to the public several years ago - it went on our list of places to go.
This past August - we had our family reunion on the island. My wife and I stayed in the original lodge - it's somewhat dated - but that is part of the charm.
The breakfasts were just ok. We ate dinner on the island one night and it was a pleasant dining experience.

- Stout’s Island Lodge sits proudly in the center of Red Cedar Lake – an 1800-acre lake in northeastern Barron County, Wisconsin. There are two island connected by a 100 ft. walking bridge (given to Frank Stout by Andrew Carneige). The two islands have a combined acreage of 18 acres.
