“RECENTLY REVAMPED COUNTRY PUB WITH GREAT FOOD AND ATMOSPHERE”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 April 2013

As a village resident, I was delighted when this formerly drab pub was taken over by new management last year and given a makeover. This is not yet entirely complete, but the place has a whole new atmosphere. Carpets were ripped out to reveal flagstone floors, new woodburners and open fires have been installed, and the whole place has a new cosy ambience. Real ales abound, and the dining room has also been transformed. The new menu aspires to gastropub, but still needs a few tweaks. However, I have eaten up there a few times recently and each time the food was perfectly delightful....even on Mother's Day when the restaurant was extremely busy. The new Landlord is well known locally for turning 'dead' pubs into revitalised moneyspinners; pubs at Babcary and Pitney were former ventures of his and both are now thriving. The Rose & Port is well worth a visit for a good pint or a delicious lunch. They also have a live music night, which is wonderful.....

“Lovely Sunday lunch in warm cosy pub”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 March 2013 via mobile

My friends and I were visiting the area and wanted a Sunday pub lunch. We found this lovely pub and had a great Sunday roast dinner. The pub has obviously been given a recent facelift and looks very welcoming. Nice flagstones on the floor, real fire, simple decor. Great service and good food. Would recommend for a nice lunch. Be careful when driving past as easy to miss as no signage outside when we visited!
