On a return trip from central Upper Michigan to Minnesota, I wanted something clean, basic, and with a 'fridge, as I knew I'd need cool storage and would be grungy from outdoor activities. The Main Street Inn fit the bill. (Speaking of the bill, check-in uses the honor system; the owner(s) aren't always on premises, and, luckily, the owner said have been honest in checking out.)
My room was at the end of the main building. New wall coverings and the basics were fine. Room did come with a kitchenette (small sink, small refrigerator, and microwave-- with sufficient towels.) As with Greg F's review, I found there were a few too many stuffed animals and pillows for my taste. The major parts of the room (plumbing, bathroom fixtures, windows) were clean and functional but showing appx. 50 years of wear. Bathroom had soap but lacked shampoo. Certainly plenty of towels for one person.
I'd stay there again if I was in the area and needed simple, solo, non-fussy lodging.
