“Great, relaxing stay at Popp's!”
Reviewed 30 June 2013 via mobile

This was our 3rd year visiting Popp's Resort and we already booked for 2014. We stayed 6/22-6/29/2013 in the Tan cottage. The location of tan is great, we had our boat docked right out front, so it's easy to put your fishing gear together. We had bonfires every night. The whole staff is always very nice and they do whatever you may need. The cottage is very clean and comfortable!

This was my 2nd visit and this time I stayed 2 nights in the motel rooms. My previous stay was in the cottages. Honestly, either place will suffice. The motel rooms offer a/c which is great during hot days. Otherwise, each has it's pros and cons but either place is worth the stay.

Ok facility but very out dated. Service is pretty bad. No house cleaning was provided. I guess that's what you get for your money...

A friend and I stayed at Popp's Resort for the 2nd year. We go up for a long weekend to golf, fish, hike, and relax. Popp's is nice because you have easy access to the High Falls Flowage and they have boat rentals if needed. This year we brought our own boat.

Popp's have a variety of lodging options. Last year we stayed in a 2-bedroom cabin and this year we stayed in the motel suite. It was 2 bedrooms with a small sitting area and kitchette. It was clean, well maintained, and comfortable for our needs. It seemed to be recently updated. My only real criticism was the small size of the bedrooms and the lack of furniture. Basically the queen-sized bed takes up the whole room. There are no dressers and one small place to hang clothes, so you have to live out of your suitcase and there's no place to put small things like your wallet, jewelry, glasses, etc. The beds were clean and comfortable.

The kitchette was reasonably stocked and the bathroom was large and roomy, very clean and well stocked. Housekeeping came in every day.

The owners are extremely friendly and accomodating. They are very responsive and friendly. We asked for an extended check-out on Sunday and they were happy to give us all the time we needed without extra charge. They are very good about helping with fishing advice, ideas for restaurants, things to do etc. Bonnie and Leon are two of the reasons we go there. They are great!

We had a great weekend despite the slow fishing. The highlight was whitewater kayaking the Peshtigo River. We went to Koris Whitewater Rafting and for $25 spent 2.5 hours of one of the greatest experiences of my life. It was a total blast - exciting, fun, and safe. I highly recommend it.

Room Tip: Cabins do not have AC, the motel suites do.

We have been to Popps Resort 2 summers in a row. We stayed in one of the deluxe lakeshore homes, right on the lake. The house is clean. There's a nice size kitchen, family room, and deck overlooking the lake. The owner and family are very friendly and accommodating. We have already booked for next summer! We have a fun, relaxing stay Popps!!!

Cabins are older but very clean. After several conversations of concern about snow conditions prior to arrival, we were assured that trails were rideable FROM the resort which proved to be false. Riding on frozen dirt trails is not called "Snirt" - Snirt is a loose snow mixed with loose dirt. Sleds overheat if they can't access ANY Snow for a long stretch (miles) to get to the good snow. The link on the resort website is Popp's own report, not the local snowmobile club condition report. Be honest with your guests -advise them to trailer 10-15 miles to the better snow conditions - Trails were ultimate closed on our departure - but still report to be open on Popp's site!

Stayed at another place last year, wish we had stayed there this year. Weekend started with very snappy rude (pregnant!) woman checking us in and culminated with barking unfriendly (altho very beautiful) dogs when we attempted to walk around the marina. The place to load canoes/kayaks was nice, easilly accessible and the cabin itself was okay - but had definately seen better days - and the woman warned us we would be liable for any damages to the cabin!
Was very nice having Renee's within walking distance -- staff there really fantastic and friendly,
and the steaks not to be missed. Loved the large screened in porch on the cabin.
