“Beautiful North Woods Resort”
Reviewed 22 January 2013

This beautiful resort, located just outside of Eagle River, WI, has everything needed for a fantastic vacation. While I've been told this isn't medically possible, I swear you can feel your blood pressure lowering even as you drive up to the office to check into your room. The appearance of the grounds evokes memories of attending summer camp as a child. While the look is traditional the facility has everything that a modern, 21st century, luxury resort should have. New condominiums, but with traditional north woods architecture, a separate lodge with a lounge and dinning area (with excellent food, by the way), another building which houses the office and exercise area and a small canteen, a swimming pool, a play area for juniors... the list goes on.
The effort put into decorating the place was amazing. The antiques, the large Christmas tree in the dinning room, and the quaint ice skating rink, all convey the feeling that one is living in a Norman Rockwell painting. The service from all the staff is exemplary and their natural friendliness makes you feel as though you've known them for years.
This is a resort the entire family will love. My wife and I look forward to returning and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone!

My blood pressure drops as soon as I turn off 70 and make my approach to the resort. Have you ever stayed at an Up-North resort that is a bit worn out or the staff grumpy? Not here. The lodging is clean and very comfortable. Laura and her team work hard and are constantly thinking of new and fun ideas to keep it fresh for their guests. For example, this New Year's weekend featured themed parties, live music, a winter obstacle course, an ice rink with skates and horse drawn carriage rides. Advice for dinner...it does get very busy and waits can get long especially if you don’t plan ahead on a Friday or Saturday. However, you are on vacation in Northern WI so....chill out, give the kids a roll of quarter for game room, have a cocktail and hang out in front of the fireplace.

Room Tip: Lodging is higher priced but worth it. Two and three lodge units overlook pool, hot tub and lake. Sp...

We stopped for one night and wished that all of the places we had stayed on our trip had been this nice. We came in the fall, on a Sunday, so not many people were there. It was expensive!
We had a king room, overlooking the lake. The bedroom had it's own balcony and tv. The shower was nice to look at, but it could have been better if there was a larger shelf to hold the soap, etc and a ledge to make it easier to shave your legs!
We didn't use the kitchen, except for the microwave, but it sure was nice to have it available.
Love the ceiling fans.

lLOVE LOVE LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!
We've been to this resort two years in a row and each time for one week. We come with 3 other families and rent two suites. We stay in the two bedroom suites on the first floor and right in front of the pool. Its a great place for kids of all ages and enough room and things to keep the kids busy. You don't feel like you have to watch your kids like a hawk as there are many families there and there seems to be a camaraderie of people looking out for eachother. The pool and hot tub are fenced in so that prevents unnecessary hazards. They offer free use of pool noodles which is great. The workout room is good with free weights, eliptical, exercise ball , yoga mat ( however, not in best condition..bring your own!) The room has a tv as well as mirrored walls. They do have a sauna that is quite nice and there is the option to get a massage there as well. The general store is cute along with the icecream shop. There is wireless internet and the food at the main restaraunt is great along with a fun bar atmosphere. They provide entertainment in an outdoor bandshell with a log theme that is pretty and the entertainment does not disappoint. There are paths for biking, walking, running, rollerblading and this is great for kids. There are also tennis courts and basketball courts as well in addition to a video arcade/game room. The unit we stay in has a small kitchen with coffee maker, full size microwave, oven/stove and refridgerator along with a small kitchenette with microwave, smaller fridge and sink in the adjoining room, . Most of the things you would need are included in the kitchen but would recommend bringing a few extra dish towels, washcloths for dishes. They don't have a blender or hand mixer so if you want to do smoothies or make pancakes...be prepared to bring those things. There is a dishwasher so that is nice too! Can/Bottle cozy's are nice to keep your beverages cold too so be sure to bring those with along with plastic solo cups ( no glass by the pool!). Lake access with dock, log swings, firepit and smores are usually going every night so bring some extra chairs to sit by the fire or out by your patio if on the main floor. Grills on site so you can fire it up for yummy lunches and dinners. I can't say enough good things about this place and there is all kinds of fun activities to do in town at the amusement park, shopping and if you are willing to spend some extra cash...rent a pontoon and you can experience Pirate Steves on the lake which has a bonafide pirate ship ( No lie!)...kids love this place and the fact that they can go on the ship! Bedrooms are lovely and comfortable beds to boot! Beaufiful granite tiled showers and separte toilet room is a plus!
There is laundry in the room so you can have fresh towels at your convenience. You will want to bring your own pool towels however.

Stayed there Labor day weekend in a three bedroom condo. The sheets were not changed and the blanket was all stained. The toilet leaked all over the floor and in one of the bathrooms the water would not drain in the shower. And the Air conditioner did not work all weekend. After paying a lot of money for this condo I could not get any satisfaction from the front desk other than the sheets being changed. I have left my phone number and emailed them since and have not received any response. My daughter got married on the property that weekend.
The food was good.

We stayed here two nights in early May. We were in a condo style unit with a full kitchen and separate bedroom from the rest of the unit. The walk-in shower was awesome and the unit as a whole was very clean and nice.

The Friday night fish fry was good and the Sunday brunch was very good.

I highly recommend this place.

I purchased a two night stay, with two free drink tickets from Groupon to this resort. I really didn't know what to expect. My only hope was that we didn't have a room overlooking a parking lot. I saw pictures of the place, but wasn't sure what we'd really be getting with our coupon. I was shocked when we walked into the room. It was AMAZING! A beautifully decorated apartment. It has a soft leather couch, lrg coffee table, fireplace in the living room, a kitchen with stainless steel refrig, stove and microwave, a dining room table with 4 chairs, and the bedroom was huge. You could fit 2 queen beds in there, but we had a king bed with the traditional north woods log headboard. I want a bathroom like the one we had. A huge tile shower, with a separate door for the toilet, and sink outside the shower. Our room even had a washer and dryer. It was so cozy, warm, and welcoming. We were there the Thurs and Friday before Labor Day. The pool didn't open til that Friday, but we went in the outdoor heated pool, and whirlpool. Bring your own towels for the pool though, only 2 bath towels in the room. Although the place has kayaks, and bikes to check out, at no cost, we brought our own. Unfortunately it was so windy both days, not to mention a tornado watch, that we couldn't go out in the water. The only draw back is if you have small children, there is no sandy beach area. There was a shallow water area with a slide from the bank out to the boat slips. I guess if the lake is low then maybe there would be a sandy area, but then not much water to play in. Also I would have thought that they would have a boat landing at the resort to put your boat in, but you have to go elsewhere to do that, and drive your boat back to the resort. It was also too windy to have a fire in the fire pit, but that would have been nice. We saw 6 deer while playing horseshoes one morning. We ate dinner at the restaurant on site. It was the first night of their Friday night fish buffet. Good food, reasonably priced. The restaurant is only open from 5-10 pm. We arrived at 5:10 and there was a 40 minute wait inside for dinner and no wait outside. So we ate outside. Which I love doing anyway. It was a very popular place for dinner. But there was also a wedding scheduled for Saturday, so the hotel was full Friday night. They have a large patio to sit outside, and that evening there was a one man band who entertained everyone before and after dinner. The drinks were wonderful, and they don't hold back on the alcohol. It's only 5 miles to downtown Eagle River and shopping. I never want to go to the same vacation spot twice, as there is so much in this country to see and do, but I would consider going back.
