“Excellent resort that has it all!”
Reviewed 1 October 2012

At the corner of the tiny town of Elkhart Lake, there is an amazing resort that keeps us coming back time and again. The Osthoff is a surprising gem in the Midwest! The cooking school, L'ecole de la Maison, is a great experience that provides a wonderful day of instruction and fun for cooks at the beginner and experienced levels. The resort itself offers a comfortable stay in rooms that have either been completely renovated or are in the process of receiving upgrades. Granite countertops in the kitchens and amazingly tiled baths with top of the line Kohler fixtures make it a warm and inviting home away from home. The staff is professional and friendly, restaurants offer great food at good prices, and the view of the lake and surrounding area can't be beat. Summertime is very crowded, but the off-season (my personal favorite time to visit) is relaxing and make you feel like you have your own beach. I'm almost afraid to give too good a review as you will all come and fill up the place and I will have to make my reservations even earlier! Seriously, this is my favorite weekend getaway.

Room Tip: Lake front rooms are a bit pricier but worth the view, particularly during fall when the trees becom...

Found an awesome travel zoo deal last week. 115$ for a 4 star hotel! Well worth! Three hours from Chicago, a great getaway from the hustle of the city. Staff was fantastic, and rooms cozy and spacious. They are all equipped with stove dishwasher and full fridge. Bring it fab foods and enjoy a relaxing weekend getaway! We really enjoyed the resorts grounds. Lake was gorgeous, and peaceful. Very refreshing stay!

If going to Mid America this is a great location. The facilities are very nice but a little dated. It could be cleaner. The beds, bathrooms and kitchen are clean but they have negelected some of the deeper cleaning. Fans and carpet by baseboards were dirty. Will stay here again though because it is a great location and pretty resort. Lots of places to ear in nearby Elkart Lake downtown area.

The Osthoff Resort is the most enchanting place in Wisconsin, my home State. I vacation yearly every summer for a week. Wish it could be two weeks.
The attention to the guest is 5 star. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable.
It is always my experience, that the staff are knowledgable and courteous. The Resort has many functions going on from day to day but it still feels like it is not crowded. The restaurants, Lola's, Otto's and the outdoor tiki-bar are priced fair, considering this is a family place catering to all the ages. I would like to see better wine choices, from California, where I live year round.
The lake is beautiful and the furniture around the beach nice and accommodating. The pools are always clean as well as the surrounding areas. Can't wait until next summer, 2013!

Room Tip: I love the view of the lake from my room. I always get a lake side.

The Osthoff Resort is a great find. The large hotel resembles beachside and lakeside resorts of a bygone era. The elegance of the facilities and the professional service alongside the modern amenities of marble bathrooms and plush beds make this an outstanding resort in Wisconsin. We enjoyed the hotel for only one night, but wanted to stay for many more.

The "U" shaped hotel faces Elkhart Lake and is the crown jewel of this small town. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and include gardens, ponds and a sandy beach at the lakeshore. The indoor and outdoor swimming pools are nicely equipped with plenty of chaise lounges and umbrellas.

Since no suites were available for the weekend, we reserved a regular hotel room which was quite large with a small hallway and walk-in closet. Prior to our departure, we ordered breakfast and enjoyed it while sitting at the dining table on the large balcony overlooking the courtyard, gazebo and lake.

Although our visit to the Osthoff came at the end of what I am certain was a busy summer for the resort, it was clean and well maintained.

We look forward to returning soon.

Having never traveled to Wisconsin, we had no idea what to expect. The Osthoff Resort was a lovely surprise. We found an elegant, beautifully renovated property with spacious guest accommodations, friendly staff, incredible meals at very reasonable prices for a resort of this caliber, all situated on a fairy tale lake. It was a wonderfully relaxing week for our family.

We booked our 3 bedroom suite very early in the year and that was a wise decision! We were attending a wedding that night (Saturday, Sept. 15th) and we were part of a group of relatives coming from many directions. We called the morning of the wedding and asked what time would be the earliest that we could check in and---they came back on the line and told us the suite was ready and we could come anytime!! What?! When does a hotel let you check in hours early? We were able to get ready for the wedding in our suite and we must have been upgraded because we had the biggest, most beautiful suite I've had the pleasure of staying at! Big, big livingroom with couch, love seat and several comfy chairs. Big screen TV, dining table that seated 8, full kitchen and laundry, 2 1/2 baths and 3 bedrooms. The master was huge and the balcony went from the master and the livingroom and looked out over the 2 outdoor swimming pools and Elkhart Lake. What a view! The entire hotel is immaculate and we didn't meet a single staff person that did not greet us. The wedding reception was so beautiful and organized! We had drinks in a hallway and wait staff came around with trays of great appetizers. Several bartenders so there was little waiting and empties were swept away. There was a table with table cards for us to pick up that told us which table we were seated at (told you they were organized). Dinner was served and was hot and yummy. Our table cards told what meal we had chosen. We all danced until the midnight hour and it was fun, fun, fun! Lola's was a great bar for a nightcap and the brandy alexander with ice cream was wonderful. A bunch of us went and used the hot tub in the morning and swam in the indoor pool. I like that the pool doesn't close until late and the last hour is adult only. The breakfast from room service was fast, hot and yummy. Also, they let us have a late checkout (Noon, can you believe it). Wonderfully clean, beautifully decorated hotel with fantastic staff. Loved the jacuzzi tub in our room and our beds were so comfortable. First rate place.

Room Tip: The suites were amazing--my sister had a one-bedroom suite and the bridesmaids and groomsmen each ha...
