a fairly non-descript bar with limited seating. A little surprised about the draw to this place. We had wings and beer... both very good.. albeit service was quite slow.
if you're in town for Road America Road Race... apparently this is the place to go one night for a beer. Otherwise... I'm sure there are better venues... but, I'm glad we went "once".

Really good, and not always typical, bar food. Great for vegetarians. Good beer selection and prices too. Only issue is that if its crowded, you will wait quite a while for the food.

We were in the area for a Blues festival at a local college and received word that the after gig party was to be held at the Brown Baer...The bar is extremely cozy with a log cabin feel and has comfortable seating including a selection of leather Chesterfield sofa's.The bar was packed but the service was great and the New Glarus beer delicious.
The following day (Sat June 22) we decided after spending the day sight seeing to return to the Brown Baer for a refreshing beer and a bite to eat. The bar was quiet but the locals were warm and welcoming and full of hints and tips for other places to visit.
The bartender recommended the hot wings from the chalkboard menu and we further order a burger and a catfish sandwich. The chicken wings were truly outstanding...they are not deep fried but slow roasted then charred on the girl....The burger was good but after the wings it was always going to be an anti climax.....however my wife's catfish sandwich was also top notch...again it wasn't deep fried but blackened and grilled. The salad was fresh and crispy and a great balance to the rich food.....and yes ...the New Glarus beer was again delicious.
We will be back!!

On Sat. June 22, my wife and I went to the Brown Baer for lunch and were treated terrible. We were there 3-5 mins. at the bar and your server never acknowledged us. She walked passed us twice and never
looked at us. She waited on new customers before us. The bar was not crowded maybe 6-8 people. She did other things with the menu board and such. I asked if we could place an order and she never acknowledged me, I asked again and she never looked at me. We were ignored. This was the worst service we ever had in our lives. We wanted to use a gift card that we won in the Glenbeulah fire dept. raffle.
We will never come to the Brown Bear again, but, you better fix your employee problems, or your business is doomed.

It is a typical Wisconsin Bar, with a surprisingly, yummy, atypical bar food, great for vegetarians too! We had the hummus platter with wonderful warm pita wedges, chicken salad pita, pork tenderloin sandwich, falafel, the portabella mushroom burger - marinated and juicy, fresh grilled asparagus and corn bread to take you to heaven!!!

All of this is made to order so don't expect fast food, it can take a while but is well worth the wait.

(We had a dog waiting in the car and she usually gets some leftovers, but not this time, we ate every bite.)
