Ye Olde Manor House Bed and Breakfast

In Elkhorn for a wedding and the mother of the bride recommended YOMH. No disappointments at all! Karen and John are wonderful hosts and have truly made it a second home to travelers (and for those of us that never seem to have time for adequate gardening and cleaning, it's better than home!). Well-appointed, clean, crisp and homey without the often-seen flowered everything of B&Bs. Antiques and collectibles add the comfy-ness without feeling like you're in a museum. Numerous places indoors and outside to sit and have a cup of tea or a cold beverage, an indoor pool, gorgeous gardens, and delicious breakfasts. I stayed in the Rising Sun room and there wasn't a single thing I would have changed. Perfect mattress, plush towels. If I lived in the Midwest it would be my choice for a weekend get-away. Hope to get back there for another stay.

Our friends got engaged here and we joined them to celebrate. We had the most wonderful weekend! Karen and John are so nice and accommodating. We loved their cooking and their conversation. We will definitely be coming back. We were especially glad that they could accommodate all the vegetarian/vegan/gluten-free people in our group and we had a great time in the indoor pool.

Room Tip: Any room is lovely.

John & Karen welcomed us into their home on an icy, snowy night. They salted the driveway & made sure we safely got into the house & settled in. The rooms & beds were so cute, clean & comfortable along with the modern bathrooms for each room. It was one of the best homemade breakfasts with many choices. would definitely go back again.

We happened upon the Ye Olde Manor House when our original plans fell through. John and Karen were very generous and accomodating even though there were 6 of us that arrived at 10:30 at night. We will definitely be back! We only wish we could have stayed longer. The rooms were very clean and the beds were super comfortable. Breakfast was great!

Room Tip: We stayed in the suite and the bedroom overlooking the pond. The suite was great for 4 people.

Our group of friends wanted to have a gathering somewhere that was not your average hotel extravaganza or basic house party, so we looked around for somewhere that could offer us ample room to bring a good group, good amenities to keep us entertained, and was reasonable in price.
We found Ye Old Manor House and were convinced that this location would be the best place to hold our yearly NYE gathering. Karen and John were great hosts, made us feel very at home, let us bring our own food for dinner, and really did a great job of setting up the rooms. Their hospitality was second to none, home itself was absolutely gorgeous. They allowed us to use their pool with flexible hours and we enjoyed the grounds so much that we're already planning another trip for the summer. I give Ye Old Manor House 5 stars, and look forward to my return.

What a wonderful, relaxing place to stay! John and Karen are terrific hosts, the house is full of books, games, and videos, all in a warm, cozy setting. Breakfast is always plentiful, and the hosts deliciously accommodate all food allergies and preferences. They have a swimming pool! The house is off the beaten path, but close to hiking/biking trails. It's only a couple of hours from Chicago.

My husband and I had a wonderful time at this B&B. We were looking for a fun little getaway and we could not have asked to stay at a nicer place! The room we stayed in was so charming! We so enjoyed meeting the owners, John and Karen.......they could not make you feel more at home! We wanted them to have breakfast with us! LOL The grounds are lovely! My husband loves to takes pictures so I think we went home with well over a 100 shots! My grandparents had a summer home in Elkhorn when I was growing up so it was so nice to visit the area that brought back some wonderful memories. Thank you John and Karen for a wonderful stay! We will definitely be back.........we did not get a chance to enjoy the indoor pool! Tracy and Joe
