“Cute & Quaint”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 May 2012

We visited here after a walk through Newport State Park. Very cute idea and location. Four soups daily that come with a roll on the side. Small deck to eat outside weather permitting and a very small seating area inside. Owner was friendly, soups were good. Will visit again.....hoping to see some more traditional soups next time, but for those looking for different these are the ticket.

“Delicious soup!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 May 2012

We took a quart of cabbage soup home and enjoyed it. The "dining room" is just a few tables. It was busy on a Sunday afternoon. Czarnuszka is somewhat hidden off Hwy. 42 in one of the old cottage resorts which now have cute little shops. The owner filled in as chef and waiter.

“Happy Anniversary May 27, Soup Czar. Wanted to give a higher rating, but...”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 April 2012

Okay, so I wasn't even paying for bean soup. I was being treated. I'd read about the owner and figured a long time ago that I wanted to go over and try some soup. Cold=Soup. Today was a bit warmer but chill in the air in Ephraim so perfect, right? Owner and server pleasant. Soup was okay but a bit expensive at $5 for a bowl I thought, but then I rethought. Where can you get anything wholesome in Door County for 5 bucks? Nowhere that's where. Though some might think there was too much pepper, I don't mind pepper so it fit the bill. Owner said the anniversary of one year is May 27. Will come back and try another serving. Hope he makes gazpacho and vychyssoise for warm weather when people don't think Hot=Soup. Hot=Chilled Soups! Come up with some tasting samples too. Make them more affordable at $0.50 or $1 so people can have samples. Soup Czar: SOUP IS GOOD! Especially the Proletariat! Eat Now. Eat More. Watch the price though, Commissar.

“Over-seasoned soup and pricey as well”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 April 2012

We stopped to have a bowl of soup. We got one bowl of bean soup and a cup of bean soup. The tab was $9. It also included 2 tiny rolls without butter. No water or beverage. The bean soup was way over seasoned with red pepper flakes..it overpowered the broth, which really didn't have much depth of flavor or richness. Not good at all. And quite frankly, not worth the money. I don't think the tourists will appreciate hot soup in the summer. We live up in Door County and hoped to find a place to order homemade soup for takeout on cool winter evenings. Will not be back.

“Hidden gem”

Located off the road but the soup is worth the search. Refrigerated sandwiches aren't my deal but the soup is incrdible.
