“Very nice place to stay!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 September 2013

Stayed in Bills room. Was wonderful and the price was right. The owners decorate with character and truly like to please their guests. Gave helpful information and recommendations. Hope to stay again!

Green Features: They practice green!! They include in their welcome letter that they are environmentally friendly as much as possible and make it easy for guests to be as well.

This inn has the appearance of an original old historic building, but it was constructed new! The couple that owns and runs the inn also designed and built it. The husband is an architect builder. They did a fantastic job of making it appear that this building was here for a century! I think there are 7 rooms (see their website ). There are 3 suites on the 2nd floor, 2 on the first floor, and 2 adjoining suites in the building next to the main inn. These last 2 are actually 2 large bedrooms joined together with a nice living room but can be booked separately also.

We stayed in the Cabin room, which is on the 2nd floor facing the front of the inn. Which means it faces the water. There is a small balcony in the front with chairs so you can relax out there and enjoy the view. The view of the water is partially obstructed by the huge tree that is in front of the inn, but you can still see the bluffs and other parts of the neighborhood. You enter all the rooms via the side porch. This entry is locked which is nice to know. You park in front of the inn or on the side by the porch so loading and unloading is easy.

The Cabin room is very large with lots of windows that open. Nice king bed with very nice sheets! Large night stands/tables with lamps. Large gas fireplace in one corner with a small couch and coffee table. Also a large flatscreen tv and video player. Small kitchen area with built in cupboards, small fridge, and microwave and sink. A small coffee maker with Starbucks coffee packets and lots of creamers!! Both the real creamers in the fridge and lots of powder ones as well. I used almost all of them! There is a also a toaster and silverware, lots of nice dishes, bowls, and glassware, including tumblers, wine glasses, and beer glasses. Wine opener. A table with 2 antique chairs. (These chairs are kind of small and not all that comfortable for reading the computer. I had to move to the couch.) There is a large whirlpool tub also. The bathroom is very nice. The sink area is separate from the toilet and shower room. There were 2 toilets in this room, regular and a bidet. Nice large tiled shower with seat and great water pressure!! Towels were super thick and soft from LL Bean. At the sink is a liquid soap dispenser. I found that this soap did not get very foamy so I would have preferred a nice bar of soap. There is a nice size walk in closet next to the sink where you can lay out your luggage and hang clothes on the rod with hangers provided. There is a built in ice machine in the hall outside the door. (Blends in with wainscoting and no noise from it!)

We had to turn the wall a/c unit on since it was quite warm. There is hot water heat controlled by a wall thermostat for cold weather. Everything was very nicely decorated with the up north cabin theme! It was very up to date and clean. The innkeeper was also very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this inn!

I have a just a couple of small nitpicks / suggestions. There were no paper napkins or paper towels that I could find. It would be nice to have some. At first the bed seemed comfortable, but it is just a tad on the soft side. My husband got a lower backache from sleeping on it. But the sheets were SUPER smooth! And the small antique chairs at the table were not comfortable after a few minutes of using my laptop. I had to sit on the couch to use my computer.

Room Tip: The other room on the 2nd floor that faces the water is the Leaf room and it has an outside balcony...

The Lodgings is one of maybe only three places I'd recommend staying in Door County, and I've been coming up here for more than forty years. The owners have thought of everything to make your stay the ultimate retreat. If you put a high premium on privacy, quiet, and a luxurious and beautifully appointed room, then this is the place for you. I parked my kids at Grandma's and had a lovely romantic weekend. The Lodgings is walking distance from some of the quaintest little beaches and spots along the water, and centrally located to many of the finer restaurants, galleries and shops. From your room you can wander down the lane and rent a kayak, or jump on a bike and get into Peninsula State Park, where you can hit the links or hike gorgeous trails. Ephraim really is picturesque! I have relatives with homes up here, but often opt to stay at this cozy little Inn because it absolutely top-notch, and I think, very reasonably priced.

Room Tip: Each room, or suite is unique and pictures are available online, so no surprises. What you see is wh...

This is the third time we've stayed here and each time we've enjoyed it more. If you're going to stay on the "noisy" side of Door County, this is the location that I'd recommend. It's just off the main road in Ephraim but it's tucked away to almost be secluded. You can walk to the water, Wilson"s or a great spot for breakfast, the Chef's Hat in under three minutes. Yet when your in your room, it's quiet and relaxing. Each time we've stayed in the Sea Chest room, with a large bath, separate bedroom, small kitchen area and big living space with plenty of windows. The rooms are themed and and they've done a great job with the decorations. There's a porch with a view of the harbor which is a great space to put your feet up and just relax.

For our first visit to Door County I spent a lot of time researching towns, hotels, inns and attractions before deciding on the Lodgings at Pioneer Lane in Ephraim. What a great choice! We stayed in the Gift Box Suite. It is on the first floor in the front of the building, had a little kitchenette, a living area, bedroom and fantastic bathroom. The king size bed was very comfy and I am on a mission to get the same sheets for my own home. The little front porch was perfect for relaxing with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. Alicia and Hugh were perfect hosts who checked in with us each day and gave us great tips on attractions and restaurants. Ephraim is a lovely little village, very picturesque and centrally located for just about anything you want to do in Door County. If you go, we can recommend Stones Throw Winery for a tasting, Chef's Hat Restaurant for a great meal, the ferry to Washington Island from Northport Pier and Bea's Ho-made Jam and Bread and Butter Pickles for gift giving.

Room Tip: We liked the Gift Box location on the first floor. It's in the front of the building but it'...

Great location in the heart of Ephraim across the street from the lake and the beautiful sunsets. The rooms are cozy, clean and beautifully decorated. The owners are very friendly and ready to help you feel at home. We felt like we were staying with old friends!

We’d like to take this opportunity to say to this guest and all our other guests from this season and season’s past: We’ve got the best, most interesting, thoughtful and respectful guests innkeepers could ever imagine. Not only do they enjoy staying at the Lodgings and coming “home” after a day of adventure they often recount their experiences serving to re-acquaint us, as often too busy year around residents with how great it is to be here in Door County. Thanks, one and all-we want you all back to continue the friendship.
