“Best suite ever!”
Reviewed 25 July 2014 via mobile

We stayed in a uniquely private 2 floor guest house located behind the hotel. Upstairs, we had a nice bedroom and another huge room with a jacuzzi. Gas fire place in the living room and a nice cozy dinette area. We parked just steps from the door.

The Penisula State Park was a block away. We rented bikes and took a beautiful trail ride. Several restaurants were within walking distance. Nice outdoor or indoor pools. Very clean and well maintained.

The front desk folks are very friendly and helpful. They serve a nice continental breakfast, however we splurged at Julie's and The Cookery ( both in Fish Creek) for fabulous morning treats.

We will definitely be back! Our stay was awesome!!

Homestead Suites has been our Door County home for over a decade now. It is centrally located on the Door County area, so you can get to all your shopping, culinary, or outdoor adventures. It is located just outside Peninsula State Park which is beautiful for both hiking and biking. They have both an indoor and outdoor pool, and serve a delightful continental breakfast to nourish oneself with before the day's adventure. The staff is very welcoming and the rooms are always clean and up to par with a comfortable mattress, microwave, and small refrigerator. We will be back for another summer of fun.

The Homestead provided our family with a great 3-day weekend. The facility is very clean and well maintained with a very friendly and helpful staff. You can't beat the location, with all of the Fish Creek shopping and dining within walking distance.

Best location in Door County! Charming, clean and has both an indoor and outdoor pools!
We had the Hickory Suite and it was perfect for our needs. We requested a room NOT overlooking the parking lot and were accommodated. We had a nice sunset view!
My only suggestion would be to have some gluten free items included in the breakfast. The only two were hard cooked eggs (yeah!) and yogurt. GF items could be upon request.
We would definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: Be sure to get a room that doesn't face the parking lot.

Centrally located for visiting Door County, and within an easy walk to popular Peninsula State Park, so a good choice if you want to hike/bike there. Also within walking distance of downtown Fish Creek. The staff was friendly and our room was comfortable. Having a small fridge and a microwave was handy. The only suggestions I'd make for improvement were: 1) Shouldn't have to wait until 3PM or later to have the room serviced, as we did every day 2) Breakfast was pretty uninspired - Hostess donuts, cereal in little boxes, coffee so weak it was tasteless.

I'm a girl who thinks it's not a vacation without a big whirlpool tub, and not necessarily to share. Could have had a party in this one! It was HUGE! The rest of the two-room suite was nice as well - king-sized comfy bed, fireplace and fridge were highlights. In addition to the tub, we especially enjoyed sitting with a glass of wine in the outdoor space, watching Fish Creek go by.

This is a great location if you're seeing a concert at Door Community Auditorium. DCA is just a 5-10 minute walk East up the hill - much easier than dealing with the concert traffic. Head west and everything Fish Creek has to offer is easily within a mile. We would definitely stay again.

Expansive continental breakfast is served until 10, but coffee is available all day.

Perfect family reunion group choice of different types of rooms and hotel location that could not have been better.

My husbands four brothers and one sister (all living in different states) every year get together for one week and always in a different location and a location that none of them have ever traveled or vacationed to previously. All extended family members and friends are always invited and our yearly numbers vary. This year, June 2014, we had 19 in our group. Age range from two twelve year old boys to our most senior person at age 80. Each year when we are attending the reunion we all decide where to travel to the next year ....in June of 2013 we decided to make Door County, WI our destination for June of 2014 and what a great location choice it was. As it happens, I have been in charge of finding "the perfect" hotel/inn/cabins that will suit all of our different needs for the past years. My choice this year of Homestead Suites was a home run. Everyone and I do mean everyone was 100 % satisfied with all Homestead Suites had to offer us.

My first contact with the hotel was on June 30, 2013 and I had the pleasure of speaking with Carol. From that first contact in June of last year until our good-byes on June 14, 2014, I could not have been more pleased with the professionalism, friendliness, helpfulness and smiling faces that was exhibited by all the staff. My family (husband and one adult son) and I arrived on Friday, June 6 and departed on Saturday June 14. The other family members and friends arrived on June 7 and departed on June 14. We occupied a total of eight rooms of varying styles and size. Carol was to be my contact person for all the many questions and information I needed throughout the year before our arrival. She ALWAYS was so nice and made sure my questions and concerns were all taken care of. Upon finally meeting her one year later after our first telephone conversation I felt like I was meeting a long time friend, One of the best assets for Homestead Suites is their web sight. Very very truthful with their pictures and information. Also, being able to choose the exact type of room you wish to have and being assigned a particular room number is a huge plus. True the hotel does not have an elevator (it only has two floors of rooms) but this was not a problem for any of our reunion group as all of those who wanted/needed a ground floor were assigned those. My husband and I choose to have a Hickory Suite because of the two room floor plan and also of it having a jetted bathtub with a shower over and we were very pleased with our choice. We were in suite number 112 on the ground floor, had a small patio area off the bedroom (entrance from the living room area) and faced the front of the hotel which is on the parking lot and road side of the hotel. We choose to run the a/c for the first few days but the weather was so cool and lovely we turned the a/c off and opened the living room and bedroom windows to enjoy the fresh air. Even though we were on the road side of the hotel we never experienced any noise issues from traffic on the road. And we were there for eight nights so experienced week-end times and week day times. Housekeeping (awesome attention to cleanliness of the rooms) freshened up our room everyday and we had a complete sheet change after three nights. Towels and amenities were replenished everyday. The bed was firm which was fine with us but that is just a personal preference.

The grounds of the hotel are very manicured looking and lovely. I'm sure when summer really arrives in Door County that lots more flowers will be in bloom. Breakfast is considered a continental breakfast with a nice selection of cereals, bagels, danish, English muffins, coffee, fruit juices, fresh bananas and more. The breakfast room is on the small size but there is an adjoining sitting area and also in warm weather you can enjoy breakfast on the patio area immediately connected to the breakfast room. On all of our mornings there I observed that lots of folks came from their rooms and used the serving trays to take breakfast back to their rooms. I only saw our groups two twelve year olds at breakfast once......of course they were choosing to sleep in. Several of our group used the indoor pool which was in a great location between the two buildings (interior connection) of the hotel. Our group also used (free of charge) the conference room/game room two different nights. On the first true night of the reunion (Saturday) when everyone was arriving at different times (all driving from different states) I planned a pizza (excellent pizza from across the street from the hotel - Wild Tomato Wood-Fired Pizza) and pie (awesome pies from Sweetie Pies Bake Shop) get together. I had reserved the activity room from 4 PM until 8 PM and everyone just trickled in when they arrived to the hotel. The hotel was very helpful in giving us paper plates, plastic ware and napkins. We used the room (six tables with four chairs each, two very nice sofa couches, a nice fireplace (we did not use), a sink and prep counter space and a small 1/2 size refrigerator) one other evening just for a social gathering to play some games and visit.

I know this is a long review but hopefully it will accurately tell others of how great this hotel experience was for our large group. But even if you are a couple or even a single, I'm very sure the same very high quality of attention and detail would be given to you. Thank you Carol, Gary, Mark, Tammy, housekeeping staff and everyone else for making this reunion one of our best.
