We stayed in one of the best view from our room, we could see straight to the lake. And they have everything there! Great location with best view, nice hotel rooms, agro farm, some activities such as jungle trek, hiking, horse riding, fruit farming, adventure zone, etc. For the sunrise view, we went to the One Tree Hill and saw one of the best sunrises in Indonesia.
For the resort facilities itself, it still below the expectation refer to the price :) And when we stayed there, there were still under construction in some area and little bit noisy.

Overall, we love our stay there and would like to go back one day 

Room Tip: Preferable stay in the hotel than villa and waterfall lodge if you wanna have the view of the Lake Toba from your room.

Honestly we came here only because of the great reviews we heard, but it turned out to be a disappointment. I'm not saying that it's completely bad, I admit the scenery was just breathtaking, but they shouldve been better considering the prices they charge. First, the check in was just horrible. The staffs werent properly trained I guess. We came in first and served halfway, but they end up serving another group while we were left there hanging. (!!!) Then finally after 30mins we got to our rooms with those golf carts. The building looks nice but there was still constructions going on. The room was spacious with some highend features, jacuzzi for instant, but it wasnt working properly. I dont know if its broken or they made some settings whatsoever. Moderate breakfast, with limited choices unfortunately. Anyway, they included optional activities during our stay and we picked gardening. It was quite fun though. This is a highly potential resort which maybe needs improvements here and there. Quite disappointing, but at least I've tried..

Most people had asked us "where is this place? where is medan"
I came across this as we were searching on places we could bring our 5 year old and it wouldnt be another crowded theme park or touristy location..
Having visited, I would highly recommend it if you want to get away to a "all in one " destination with the family for some quiet time, yet be filled with available activities.

its a 3 hour car ride from the current (old) airport but I am told that it would be a much shorter ride once the new airport is open.
the price for the room stay package includes ALL activities - we were there for a week and my 5 year old was kept busy all week! there is a guide assigned to us and our guide Kavan was THE BEST - he genuinely cared for us and was always patient answering all the questions my son had about the nature, forest tracks..

Great to visit now, when its still "unknown" to many :)

Room Tip: they have different room types - lodge, villa, dormitories and in various locations (toba view, waterfall)... just call or email them for the best advice we stayed at the room in the new lodge area - waking up to the Breathtaking views of Lake Toba :) it would be my choice again the rooms have NO aircon and its not needed - it was nice and cool when we were there in June

We set out for 2 nights in the most expensive villa the morning of arrival received an email stating that there had been a mistake and we could only have that villa for 1 night but they could move us to 2 separate villas for the last night. For a list price of $700 per night I had high expectations, sadly they were not reached. Whilst they had tried to make the villa upscale by adding some high end features, the original building was obviously built cheaply. Gaps between walls and ceilings and wire mess internal windows above the doors meant having the doors shut for children's nap time provided no quiet time unless the whole family sat in silence.

The brochure stated that there were 7 cafe/restaurants in fact only 1 was open for evening meals. We ate there twice and at best the food was ok. ( stay away from the pasta dishes as they were both awful, local dishes were average and between the 7 of us we tried almost every dish on the menu). Big disappointment for the children was that of the 4 desserts offered only 1 was available ( fried banana which were under cooked and bland)
Breakfast overlooking the lake was the one saving grace but even then the food was only average.... The view could make anything a pleasure!

The adventure area looked great but both my older kids left disappointed that they were only able to do half of what they could see as the rest were under repair.
Fishing was a complete waste of time, they state you can keep up to 1 kg and even have it cooked for you. 4 people fishing 5 if you include the fishing guide and only 1 tiny goldfish was caught which my wife had to insist got put back, the guide was seriously wanting to keep it!!!!!! ( could not have made one fish finger out of the tiny thing)

Overall the whole experience was a great disappointment, the resort promises so much and for the prices they charge I expected a lot more. If they were able or willing to explain the true information about what was open or closed it would have gone a long way to making us more understanding.

In the end it was an easy decision to only stay the one night and spend the money saved on a great meal for the family when we got back to Medan.
