The rooms are very charming, with a real resort feel, like vacation.

But the blinds in my room did not do much to keep out the morning sun so it's good that I could not sleep in.

The wifi was hit or miss--good the first couple of days and then no luck.

The layout is rather confusing--I heard numerous people ask for directions.

The fan will not run constantly, it kicks off and on which is annoying.

While there were recycling containers in meeting rooms there was nothing elsewhere and no option in the rooms to reuse towels and sheets.

Meeting rooms lacked power for laptops.

Room Tip: Do not face east

Orracle,
Thank you for your review. I am pleased to read that you enjoyed your time with us and appreciate you sharing your comments on areas were we can improve. We are in the process of updating our signage to assist guests with finding their way around the resort. I am sorry we did not know about the need for additional power outlets in the meeting room you were utilizing, as our AV team would have been happy to accommodate this request and also assist with the WIFI. We look forward to your future stay.
Kind regards,
Sara Schmitz

We stayed 3 nights (on a Groupon) and had a great time. I will certainly plan on going back with the kids again next year.
The pros:
-Families everywhere so I didn't ever feel bad when one of mine made loud noises or squealed.
-Concierge was very friendly, helpful and was able to help us get a discount on a boat tour.
-The pools were great for families with young kids because there is a splash pad adjoining another pool AND there is a small restaurant/bar right there as well. It was nice to let our kids splash around while the parents enjoyed a (much deserved) frosty beverage or two.
-Restaurant "The Waterfront" is very kid friendly and had a great view of the harbor.
-Harbor room was very pretty with easy access to sandy area where kids can play in the sand and feed the ducks (we brought bread and had the kiddos occupied for almost an hour)
-Also bag games and lots of indoor games for kids who are a little older and even an arcade! Also a craft room for young kids if the weather is bad or you need a break from the sun.
-Valet parking is free. Woo hoo!
-Microwave and mini fridge in the room to help with all the snacks/drinks parents being with little kids.
Cons:
-No blackout drapes. This is bad when your kids wake up with the sun. Huge bummer- next year I'll pin up dark blankets or something so we can try and sleep until 7am!

All in all: great trip and as relaxing as possible with kids due to pretty views, pools, beach, giant green spaces to play/run and the alcohol that is served next to the pools. I would highly recommend!

This place totally reminded me of Dirty Dancing. There is something for everyone: pool; golf; dining; shopping, etc. There are two pools - one for families and one for adults. We stayed here because we participated in 150 mile bike ride over three days for the Lung Association. The Abbey was a great hotel for rest and relaxation after our rides everyday. The hotel room was up to date and the pool was great. I would definitely return for a weekend trip away with my family.

We recently stayed for four nights to celebrate a wedding. This resort is a great way to enjoy Lake Geneva without the crowds and traffic of downtown. The town of Fontana is small with only a couple of shops and small cafés, not the shopping that is found in town. A water taxi across the lake would be a great idea but unfortunately does not exist. The only way to get across is to drive around or rent a boat.

The grounds are absolutely beautiful and are maintained. The location is great, walking distance to water. The marina view rooms have a great view of the lake.

Our room was comfortable but was not cleaned for two days, we had to call for service. Many of the toilets of rooms in our party had trouble flushing but were quickly fixed.

Every room includes an interior entrance and a patio entrance which creates convenient access to the resort.

The resort offers activities all day to keep the kids entertained.

The outdoor pool was nice. As people without children, we enjoyed the adult only pool. The family pool was a little small and got crowded with families, not enough room for two sets of basketball nets and two slides. The kiddie/wading pool was great! Caution there are no life guards at the pool, however there are attendants and servers walking around.

The food at the resort is not great and is a little pricey, service at the Waterfront was slow with no reason. We enjoyed breakfast at a small restaurant across the street that only serves breakfast and lunch. There is a Starbucks in the lobby, but it is small and gets crowded in the morning.

If you get a chance walk down to Chucks or Gordy's down by the water. Great place to watch boating activity, including paddle boarding, jet ski rentals, parasailing, and boat rentals. We rented paddle boards from Fontana Paddle company and they were fabulous. Tuesdays are "two for one rentals."

The interior décor could use some updating but the rooms are very comfortable, especially the beds! The shower in the bathroom is a rain shower, limited hot water on Sunday.

Overall great family resort. It kind of reminded me of an old fashioned summer resort. We enjoyed our time and I would definitely recommend it but keep an eye out for deals, rooms can be over priced.

Our room was ok....except for the ceiling stain that kept crumbling on to air vent blowing it around. I hope that it is nothing dangerous. Bathroom fan crazy loud, and lights stay on in courtyard all night long.
***Beds were awesomely comfy.***
Front desk not overly friendly.
***GORDY's boat rental guys were great.***
I might come back again but would not want to stay in 1606 again(because of Ceiling) although location by outdoor pool was good.

CSMoonie –

Thank you for your review. I apologize that you experienced the inconveniences you mentioned during your stay. I have alerted our engineering department so that they may review the room. The onsite boat rental is a great convenience and I am delighted to read that you found the staff to be so helpful. We do hope that we will have the opportunity to welcome you back again and exceed you expectations.
