The garden is turned into a Wonderland of lights that you can either stroll through (about 30-45 minutes) or ride through on a horse-drawn wagon (about 15 minutes, though you can also walk around in addition to the ride if you want to look at things close up. Also the wagon ride only covers the "valley." There are more lights up on top of the hill, which is level with the Visitor Center and paved..)

They say it's over 250,000 lights, but that number is deceiving because the lighting displays are spread out - they're not all in your face with one big spectacular blast, the way homeowners do it. This is more something to explore at your own pace. The Icecicle Forest is my all-time favorite.

They get big crowds on Friday and Saturday, less so on Sunday, but they do a great job of managing the crowds. And once you're past admissions, people really spread out.

I highly recommend this event!

Cold weather is a given in northern Wisconsin (Great Lakes Region) and the City of Green Bay lies within this tundra area. But residents survive and even thrive during the seven months of artic frost because of the many outdoor activities that make this cold period interesting. The annual Festival of Lights is one of these events that "light up" the outdoors and invite people to take a walk or a horse drawn sleigh ride through the largest outdoor display of Christmas lights northern Wisconsin has to offer. Typically it begins the weekend after Thanksgiving and thousands of people return each year to enjoy this winter display. Don't miss it if you happen to be in the area!

Whether you are coming out as a couple, family, or with friends, WPS Garden of Lights is a MUST SEE holiday tradition. Open F-S-S through December 22, and five days from December 26 through December 30, from 5 - 8 (9 pm on Fridays & Saturdays), there's something for everyone! Over a quarter million bright lights transforming the Garden into a winter landscape that will delight your senses. Enjoy refreshments and entertainment in the Winterberry Cafe after walking or taking the horse-drawn wagon ride through the show.

I went on a class trip with 7 year old kids and they had a great time. I've been here before and I am always enjoying something new. The landscape changes very often as the blooming season is different for all of their plant/tree species. Bring a picnic basket with your kids and enjoy some quality family time.
